The most bang for your buck.
So I'm giving the Bear X Desire XL 5 stars not because I think it's the best pistol crossbow of its class. 5 Stars because it far out preforms anything I've shot for less than $100. I've attached a red dot scope and the accuracy is great. I get 4 to 6" grouping from 60 ft away standing. I bought this to mount a fishing reel and use it for fishing. After using for intended purpose will return to update. You can get broad hunting heads for small game Though I've not used it for such there's no doubt this thing is killing a coyote or smaller. Highly recommend, Not a toy. Keep up with maintenance. Such as keep your strings waxed. Keep screws tight. If you shoot arrows into trees or something hard it will damage the arrow it comes with and they will become compromised. They are cheap so you'll want to buy better quality arrows. Some people have issues with arrows coming apart. Fix this by adding a drop of hot glue into the ends then put back together. Also, you can strengthen arrows by taking them apart and filling them with hot glue. However they will be heavier but this is also good for fishing arrows where you want more weight because this is a 50/60 lb draw. This crossbow is made of plastic though it's a high quality plastic I would not recommend putting a higher lb limb. You can do that with something like the Adder but not this. The one issue I see is I have the stock adjusted all the way out for better leverage of cocking. But imo if there's a break or failure it will be here. That's the weakest part of the crossbow. Hope this helps anyone thinking of purchasing.. Edit: I made the modifications for Bowfishing before the review posted. I have used it and was successful at hitting a fish although was not able to land because I was using the line that came with reel and it snapped on me. Will definitely upgrade Line to try again.

This is the one!
This was my first crossbow, and I love it! Itโs very accurate once you get the sights properly adjusted, and shooting it is a lot of fun. Just keep in mind that a crossbow requires maintenance, such as using string wax and rail lube (every session), and ensuring that all screws and bolts are tightened correctly after a few shooting sessions.. If youโre looking for your first crossbow at an amazing price, this is the one to choose!

Buy something else, terrible piece of junk
Absolutely terrible piece of junk. You get what you pay for here, I thought maybe a cheap crossbow for messing around will be fine, but this thing is so cheap you can't even actually put it together. Their stringer loop not only can't cock the bow of this strength but the damn thing snapped before even going halfway before it could be STRINGED!!! On top of that it was missing parts it said it should come with. Use your money for anything else. This is a terrible piece of crap and this company shouldn't be allowed to sell anything on Amazon from how absurdly cheap their pieces of crap are.

Easy to assemble, accurate out of the box....
Just got the Bear Desire XL 60 lb limbs today. I matched it up with a AR 7 viper mag (7rd). This setup is similar to the Steambow M10 for a little more than a 1/3 of the price. The bow was simple to string (this was my first attempt ever stringing a crossbow). There's some scanner video stickerson the inside of the box for YouTube instructions how to string it. The bow was easy to cock, and was very accurate out of the box without the mag. I was shooting about 30 ft. and could easily compensate my inaccuracies with the iron sights. The butt stock is adjustable, but fixed in one of three positions. The back of the hand grip was not smooth at all. The split in the grip didn't match and was annoying. I filed it down, no biggie. I chose this model for the 60 lb limbs. This thing hits just as hard as the M10 (75 lb limbs). Overall, I'm stoked about this crossbow. As I mentioned before, a Frankenstein M10 with a better quality mag but less capacity, for under $150. I've tried to like the fore grip (installed it both ways) looks cool, but not very comfortable. Shipping was spot on and couldn't be happier. I'll update with a video, cheers.

Great little squirrel killer
Excellent pistol crossbow. Easy to assemble. 1 in Moa at 30 yards. Would by extra darts only comes with 3. I stress do not buy this for your kids it would s not a toy. Seems durable for the money for the most part. I can see it breaking at the cocking mechanism the plastic there is then. If it does break I would replace it with a piece made of metal.

Great value.
Exceeded my expectations! There are many clones of this crossbow model. I opted for this Bear model because it came with 60 lbs. vs. 80 lbs. limbs. For my purpose, the bolt negligible speed difference is inconsequential, and is more than made up buy the gentler cocking force. This crossbow is well made and surprisingly accurate plenty powerful. The only negative I can think of, is that they could have included a few more bolts. P.S. I'll still give it a 5 star, but I have to report that after just a little use, the latch-lever that releases the cocking stock, broke. This defect has been reported as a common problem. I can why, it is a design flaw. Where it gave way, the plastic is very thin, and bound to easily break. I replaced the latch with one I made out of metal.

Nice, but could use better instructions, and stronger parts.
Nice little crossbow. Enough power to knock down some pesky yard varmints, but easy enough to cock. After sighting it in with a dozen shots, I was shooting 3" groups at 50 ft. I'm not too steady, so this is easily achievable by normal folks. Be aware you have to release the trigger safety after it is cocked - use both thumbs to provide gentle even pressure, as the safety mechanism is plastic and appears it could break if pushed too hard from one side only. For the price this is a nice little crossbow. I would have given it 5 stars, but the instructions leave a little to be desired. Search for videos on how to assemble and string this bow and you'll be fine. It's pretty simple, but easy to screw up if you are not familiar with this. Update - after removing the rear sight to snug up the bolt clip, the release lever for cocking the bow broke and will be returning it for replacement under warranty.

What a blast!
I have been looking at pistol crossbow's for a little bit and decided to go with Bear, a name I trust. The stock feature makes it more of a carbine than an actual pistol and that feature works great for me. This little crossbow packs a heck of a punch so make sure you have a good backstop or archery bag. The cocking takes some effort which is a plus around curious little ones. You need some muscle to make it work. As long as you are careful, and as stated have a good target backstop to shoot into, you can use this indoors, basement range, garage and of course outdoors. Just make sure no-one is behind teh target, just in case. Also, did I mention this is just good old fashion FUN to shoot. I bought the extra bolts from Bear as well. The kit comes with 3 but trust me you will want more. I paid and got the Bear ones as I said I trust them and have purchased all my archery equipment form this brand. There quality is great and if needed their customer service is excellent! If you are looking for some fun and like to shoot give it a try, best $50 I spent in a long time. Update: I had to contact Bear customer service for a small parts question and I must say they were Excellent! I wish all customer service experiences were as easy of this. They listened to my questions, provide answers and advice and even sent a replacement part!
