Huge Fan
I bought this to accompany the newer cordless router Bosch came out with earlier this year. First off, the router itself is amazing, but for me, I don’t even think about routers without having a plunge base, unless of course, it’s in a router table. I’ve been in love with my dewalt trim router with plunge setup since I got started on my woodworking journey 4 years ago. I say that to say I had quite a bias, almost sentimental. Immediately, I could feel how much better the Bosch is. The action is so smooth. The components and materials used are beefy and will last a lifetime time. The depth stop is extremely robust and easy to use. I prefer it to the dewalt in every sense. The orientation of the handles is more ergonomic and thought out here with the Bosch. It’s got a wider base than the fixed so you feel way more stability. I don’t ever see too many instances where I’d even put the fixed base back in. As far as value for the money, it’s relative. I feel like it’s worth every penny, but like I said, I don’t even think about routers without a plunge base. If I were to have any critique about this, is that the dust collection components should be included. The only one I see msyself ever using is 16$ +\- so no big deal, I went ahead and bought it. I will say that dewalts does create a better seal and works a bit better but Boschs is still very effective. I have not tried their proprietary guide bushings but I’m very interested in how they stack up to to the porter cable style. They seem pretty slick, we’ll see. Overall, I’m a huge fan of this base.

Worked perfectly with my older PR20EVS router. Handy to have for the smaller router. A bit spendy.

initial impression very positive
I have needed a small plunge router for a long time and have used the bosch colt without it BUT the time had come to take the PLUNGE literally. I have the angled base as well and love to use this little router. I build guitars and need to be able to rout a saddle slot with a plunge function. I f I don't i get little turn outs at the ends of the slot. I have used my porter cable 2 hp router but it is very heavy and harder to control. I have used this router on two saddle lots now and it has worked great. My slots look close to perfect now and the lighter weight but still significant horse power is just the ticket. I actually like the depth adjustment better on this base. The PC is more fancy but frankly doesn't hold very well. The colt one does hold. The only reason for not getting 5 stars is that the chuck lock is very hard to get at with the plunge base installed. I have to use the big end of a chop stick to get the lock to push in all the way. The overall build quality on initial use of this base is definitely superior to a lot of other such tools out there.

Not sure if it is a manufacturing error
Holding a small router can be a challenge at times, so I decided to upgrade to improve safety and add the plunge router capability. When I received this unit I tried to fit the router into the unit. The hole where the router is supposed to fit is not circular. Not a good fit when trying to insert a circular router into it. It appears to be 1/16 of an inch out of round. I requested a replacement to confirm that it was a manufacturing defect, not a shipping issue, as the box showed no damage. This was a possibility, but I did not expect it to be the cause. The great news for myself is that it was the case. The new base unit arrived within 2 days, and it fits perfectly. I will use it within a few weeks and will provide an update on its use. Currently, I have a Harbor Freight standard-size router (their top of the line). It works very well and I will compare this Bosch unit to it for use. At first glance, the Bosch unit besides being much lighter appears to have finer adjustment capabilities. It also features a lockdown lever that is designed to maintain the router at its current depth. This would make it behave like a standard router, rather than a plunge router. I'm not sure if this will work that way. I will update this review later.

Very well made. A bit difficult to use the plunge lock.
This is a very well made base for the Bosch Colt router. I've got a larger plunge router, so this wasn't a really high priority for me. The main reason I wanted it was that my son gave me a nice Bosch edge guide, but it didn't fit the original base. The edge guide that came with the router was an uncharacteristically (for Bosch) poorly made sheet metal affair that wouldn't hold its setting and I wanted a better edge guide. This plunge base accepts the new guide. I haven't used it much with the plunge base yet and probably need more practice before I make my final assessment, but my son used it to make some plaques and he found it much easier to handle than my medium-sized P-C router in it's plunge base. It's definitely easier to install (and uninstall) the Colt in this base than it is to accomplish the same thing on the P-C. I found the plunge lock lever on this base a bit difficult, but suspect others, like my son, won't find it to be a problem. If you have a Bosch Colt, this is a solid addition that will open up new uses for it.

great upgrade
I own the Bosch PR20EVSK router and used it together with a Milescraft template for mortising hinges and latch plates on two doors. I have little experience with routers though I am going to try an edge profile on a plaque soon. I had a lot of problems setting the standard base to the proper depth allowing for the offset of the template guide and the thickness of the hinge. I made test cuts on a 2x4, but small adjustments were hit and miss. There is some play in the collar of the base when you adjust it and the little wheel seems pretty useless. In addition to the setup problem, I was also running into issues while mortising on the jambs and doors. The collar would losen allowing the tool to slip deeper into the material before I could catch it. I tried holding the router many different ways but the problem just persisted. No more of that with this new base! Depth adjustments can be made quickly with the scale on the depth rod. Fine adjustment is much more intuitive with the screw on the tip of the rod which has markings, so you can get a feel for how many twists it needs. As there is only one seating position for the motor in the base, I get repeatable results. I look forward to replacing the rest of my doors. My only complaint is with the rotating depth stop: It is not possible for me to put a hinge between the stop and the rod for the ultimate in thickness adjustment. I cannot use the highest stop because of the depth that I need to reach. This position is the only one allowing full access from the left. The plunger blocks the right when it goes down. Bosch and the other manufacturers who offer similar products have created a new product category: the serious compact plunge router (sorry Dremel). Just what I needed!

Bosch is good
Just what I thought I was ordering. It is hard to tell sometimes which tool these accessories fit.

Works Great!
The first thing I noticed was the spring-loaded plunge stop... so much better than the knob I have on my other router. The Colt trim router fits very snugly in the plunge base and you have to line up the indexing pin but aside from that, the experience was awesome! I very much recommend it. I was so impressed I got the edge guide kit that's compatible with it.

Excelente accesorio
