I took 10 years of rigorous classical piano lessons as a kid. I'm technically a pretty good piano player, but the thing about classical music is that you don't need to know jack-all about what chords are to be very good at interpreting sheet music. So, I never learned it. Now, as an adult, I've been dying to learn how to jam or how to figure out and play along to pop songs, which apparent knowing chords unlocks. I've been trying to teach myself using the internet, but this book is the first resource I've found that has actually clearly and concisely explained what I've been trying to learn, from a perspective that I can easily understand. I think this book would be most useful as a secondary resource for beginner players (again, it's not a piano lesson book or songbook) OR for experienced players like me who are coming from a classical background. Review: Well written - Love all the MIcah Brooks books. He explains things simply and sequentially. Fun to "geekout" with his book. He goes at a bit faster pace than Meridee Winters, so it is a great compliment to that series. I had piano teachers "beating their heads on the wall" trying to get me to understand how chords work. Been playing for 47 years and now things are clicking thanks to his method of explaining. Highly recommend if you can move a a brisk pace- otherwise I recommend Meridee Winters for a leisurely pace.

Well written
Love all the MIcah Brooks books. He explains things simply and sequentially. Fun to "geekout" with his book. Assumes knowledge of music theory
I like the approach and think that it will help me learn to play certain types of music on the piano. Further I think the approach is interesting and enjoyable, making practicing not a chore. I am only about half-way through the book - it does require practicing which takes time and takes-up time. I think the book would benefit from a brief explanation of the Circle of Fifths, which the book assumes you already have. I have yet to find a brief and still useful explanation. If the book had that, I think it would be a 5-Star book.

I love this book
I love this book! As a piano teacher for over a decade, this is by far the best resource I have found to teach the basics of piano chording. Micah breaks down the information into simple, easy to understand segments as he explains the professional musician’s “Nashville Number System”. Anyone wanting to learn keyboarding quickly will benefit from this material. I will be incorporating this book into all of my student’s lessons!!

Outstanding guide to chords and piano in general
Having had over a decade of piano lessons, I am surprised at how much I learned from this book. A great refresher on some basics I knew, and a wealth of knowledge on chord structure and how to approach chords in a way to vary and enhance the songs. A wonderful book for both beginners and those with basic piano or music knowledge.

Superb simple guide to chords and progressions
Great for beginners and seasoned players who want to understand the theory of chord progressions. Exceedingly well explained in a manner that’s somehow easier to understand than any other text I w seen on the subject. Buy all three, you’ll be playing along to your favourite tunes in no time.

Piano chords book
It is a good book but similar information, even better explained, better illustrated and with better practice exercises, could be found on internet and downloaded for free.
