Do what they are designed to do and easily crimp clamps. You can over tension if you don't watch what you are doing. Crushed a pencil for fun and experimentation. Much easier to use than the non-compounding type.

these work good, they open enough to do a large CV joint boot clamp so money well spent.

The double hinge on this tool makes for easier use. I used on turbo charge pipes and it worked great. Looks just like a factory BMW clamp assembly.

DOESN'T WORK

My business is lawn irrigation, so I use these each and every day. All in all a good tool. Even on the smaller clamps like 3/4 and 1 inch I can get them just a little tighter than the plain red-handle crimpers I have been using since 1982. Only one issue: There are tiny spring clamps that hold in the three pins that hold this tool together. They disappeared the first week of use. Now the pins are loose and I have to be careful not to lose them. Not a big issue if you only use them occasionally. Have to check to see if Oetiker has replacement spring clips.

Great Oetiker tool. Way better then the cheap knock offs. I would buy again for this application.

If you need to install Oetiker clamps by the bagful, on a daily basis, THIS tool will save your hands. The compound action is a force multiplier, and allows a reduced squeeze to properly close your clamps. The large, plastic handles on the pliers helps improve your grip, and will reduce fatigue in your hands, even after repetitive clamp installations. As much as I appreciate the quality of other brands of Oetiker style clamp pliers (I’m looking at you, Knipex), you can’t beat using genuine OEM tools. For a dependable seal, professionals rely on Oetiker clamps. Engineers spec them as the proper clamps for a multitude of applications. If you’re going to be using this style of clamp, invest in the proper tool, and save your hands (while avoiding carpal tunnel syndrome)!

Bought this because it was specifically recommended by oetiker for their ear clamps. This tool is way too small to exert enough force to properly cinch down a clamp. I bought this for use on a cv boot clamp, but no one I could find had enough strength to cinch the clamp, causing it to leak. Just get a ratcheting pex clamp tool for half the price that's capable of doing what it was made for.
