Great country music movie directed by none other than the renowned Peter Bogdanovich.
I liked the whole movie, especially the 2 fantastic leading male actors, River Phoenix and Dermot Mulroney. The 2 leading actresses Sandra Bullock and Samantha Mathis were also fabulous in that they complemented each other. The plot was incredible due to renowned director Peter Bogdanovich's great skills in direction. The bonus features are swell, especially director Peter Bogdanovich's explanation of how he organized this great movie and what could have been River Phoenix's future roles had he not passed away so abruptly. One feels very sorry for not having him still here with us to delight his audiences with his mature performances. The whole musical country music score is at its best from beginning to end in this movie. I have never heard so many romantic love songs played and sung during a movie. Don't miss this movie!!

I don’t what it is but this is one of my favorite movies. It could be love triangle or the humor but it is just one so enjoy watching. Always wanted to go to the blue bird cafe but haven’t made it there yet.

Love this movie.
I love this movie. First, I love music. It's one of my favorite things. Singing and dancing along to the radio. It helps brighten my mood no matter what is going on in my day. This movie has the same effect. River, Samantha, Sandra, and Dermot are all amazing in this one. I really like the songs in the movie. Plus, I get to hear the funny verses that Sandra sings, which is almost enough to make me watch it in and of itself. This movie is about Miranda Presley (Samantha Mathis) moving to Nashville, Tennessee. There she gets a job working at a bar that features amateur open mic nights for song writers and singers to showcase their talent. While there she meets, Linda Lue Linden (Sandra Bullock). The two women become fast friends and even agree to share the same hotel room, as they are both trying to make it in the music biz. Then comes Kyle (Dermot Mulroney) and James (River Phoenix). These two men are at odds with one another, both vying for the attention of the lovely Miranda. James ultimately wins her affections, the two getting married in, of all places, an all night convenience store. There's drama, romance, heartbreak, and excitement, plus a bit of failed cow tipping. That's right those fools tried to tip a cow. However, they manage to make things works out in the end, with surprising results.

Miranda"no relation to Elvis" Presley wants to be a country music star
When this movie came out I was not yet in highschool and I found it fabulous. Now graduated from college I watched it again and found myself liking it for different reasons. Miranda Presley flees from New York to Nashville in hopes of becoming a country music star. She takes a job as a waitress at a famous little diner run by K.T.Oslin. In real life this is the same diner that 'discovered' lots of early country stars. She meets James, the cute but dark River Phoenix, and he has just signed a record deal. She becomes roommates with Sandra Bullock, an eager girl trying to make everybody else happy. And she also meets Kyle, played by Dermot Mulrouney, who has the hots for Miranda. They all want to become big stars, and so they audition over and over at the diner and this is where the movie takes place. There is some love chasing as well as dream chasing. Miranda is on a mission and she unexpectedly finds herself while chasing a dream. We get to see the struggles of an aspiring song writer and find humor when everything looks like it's lost. This version of the dvd is great with extra scenes added in, and anyone who has watched this before will know what they are. We also get to see the making of the movie with interviews on River Phoenix, which is reason alone to buy the dvd.Watching the film as an adult I found myself relating to everything. While I never wanted to be a star I do have dreams and watching these people chase them and fight for them made me try a little bit harder. All the actors became their character and made it that more real. If you like movies with comedy, drama, love, soul searching then you should try this one on for size.

It reminds you to follow your dreams as long as you can
I have always loved this movie. Now with the two short clips added back into the movie it makes more sense. I always though there seemed to be something missin when James came back to look for Miranda. It is sad that this was River Phoenix's last finished movie. You can see the love him and Samantha Matthias had for eachother on this film. The film itself is not like a world big hit. But when I first seen it I was 13 and wanted to write music for a living. I used to play guitar and at the time I like country music. At my newly acquired age of 37 years old I do not like country music as my taste have gone more worldly with tavel and age. Due to an injury I can no long play the guitar or sing. I still write music that is in my head that no ine will ever hear. But every time I see this move I remember that at 13 years old I though nothing could stop me. I chased my dreams just like the characters in this movie did. It is bittersweet to watch this movie.

Interesting movie
I'm not a country music fan, but this film was playing on my TV when my cable was being installed to run my computer. That was back around 97 or so. Anyway, while they were installing my cable to hook up to my computer, this film was playing in the other room, and I started watching it. It kept my attention, so I must have liked it. But years went buy and I forgot about it.I saw it on Amazon, and it clicked in my mind, because when the cable guys asked me what name to register my e-mail in, I blanked, and then just took a name from the film. Well, I bought the DVD, and it's still a good movie. Quite good. I really liked the last song. I was sorry that River Phoenix died so soon after making this film. He showed a lot of potential. But one of my favorite movie stars today is Sandra Bullock, whom I met once again in The Net. Since then I've enjoyed several more of her movies, including Two Weeks Notice with Hugh Grant, and recently enjoyed Dermot Mulroney in The Family Stone. Sorry I haven't seen more of Samantha Mathis. She was really very good.

In Englisch The Thing Called Love klingt das genau richtig.
