The Red Light District

As you can see, the records I received are not the complete set of this album. I got two copies of side 2, meaning I have 2 records of half of an album. On top of that, both of the records skip through every song played.

I bought it used off of Amazon for $8. That's about what it's worth. His lyrics are stupid! They only sound good, if at all, at the beginning of the song and then random people just repeat stuff over and over again. Get Back and The Potion are the only viable songs on this album. The rest of the songs he brags about how many houses he has, how big his PP is (which it probably isn't), and what kind of car he'll be showing up in... to one of his houses. I remember listening to Luda and hearing powerful, smooth rhymes.

The music was an automatic download, and it is great.

This album is great. Luda is one of the few rappers that can rap a word with the same word and come off as credible. His inflection is what makes the difference. Instead of rapping in a flat or angry tone he adds an almost comical affect that makes each track a parody of itself. He is serious while not being serious. It is unique and wonderful.

Back For The First Time - 5 stars, Word of Mouf - 5 stars (actually 6 or 7), Chicken & Beer - 5 stars, Red Light District, for me personally was a let down. I understand it's hard to follow up on 3 great albums, but maybe a little more studio time would have helped. I don't understand the rush, it can't be money; Chris, slow down, and get the next one right. Case in point, Kenye West, he took his time and delivered one of the best albums of '04. RLD - productions were decent, lyrics were a snuff above par, but it just didn't have that, Ahh, you know, "mojo". I probably should have rated it lower, but knowing Chris' track record.... 4 stars ****

If you mix Austin powers music, you are not pimpin. Just saying.

The only reason I bought this CD was because of the song 'Get Back' because they play it at the end of Tropic Thunder! The other songs are okay. I'm glad I stopped at THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT!!!p.s. I'm glad Ludacris played Jim Bravura in Max Payne!p.s.s. Tomorrow is my 19th birthday!!!

Good album luda very underrated

Mint CD, Mint Cover, Mint Artist/s, Awesome Song/s, Well Played, Nothing entirely wrong with this CD, Reason for buying it cos i loved this Person's/Peoples Music.

This is good, but mainly for the tunes. Luda just seems to shout his way through everything, very few styles.

Got this because one of the tracks - 'Get Back' is at the end of the film Tropic Thunder as the credits scroll up. Awesome...

Um Hip Hop aus Atlanta ist es ja leider nicht zum Besten bestellt. Legenden wie OutKast oder Goodie Mob kriegen schon lange nichts mehr auf die Reihe, Talente wie Maceo oder Baby D bekommen kaum Aufmerksamkeit und ansonsten regiert Pop a lá T.I., Yung Joc oder Ying Yang Twins die Stadt. Dass man sie als wahrer Rap-Fan aber nicht abschreiben braucht, ist vor Allem Top-Leuten wie Pastor Troy, Young Jeezy oder eben auch Ludacris zu verdanken, die schon seit Jahren Qualität produzieren. Wie auch bei den Vorgängern tummelt sich bei Luda's fünftem Album einiges von Rang und Namen. Darunter auch Bobby Valentino, Nate Dogg, DJ Quik, Trick Daddy, DMX, Nas und einige mehr."The Red Light District" beginnt mit der DJ Green Lantern-Produktion "Number One Spot" allerdings sehr durchschnittlich. Das Instrumental samplet "Soul Bossa Nova" von Quincy Jones, was den meisten wohl eher als Titelmelodie der "Austin Powers" Filme bekannt ist. Insgesamt eine sehr gute Idee, allerdings eher nervig umgesetzt. Deutlich besser ist da die Hitsingle "Get Back". Sie wurde vom ehemaligen No Limit-Produktionsteam The Medicine Men (früher Beats By The Pound) gebastelt und ist ein wahres Brett. Die Beats pushen ohne Ende, werden dazu mit einer mitreißenden Melodie garniert und Ludacris rappt dazu, als gäbe es keinen Morgen. Ein echter Banger und der wohl beste Track des Albums. Hart und aggressiv kommt "Put Your Money" zusammen mit DMX daher. Neben harten Bässen gibt es auch einige freshe Steeldrum-Elemente, die die harten Raps der beiden Rapper sehr gut unterstreichen. Komplett anders zeigt sich die Smoker-Hymne "Blueberry Yum Yum". Das Instrumental ist wirklich einmalig. Chillig, futuristisch, abgefahren. Der Lude rappt passend dazu lässig, doch das Highlight ist hier eindeutig Sleepy Brown mit seinem smoothen Refrain. Auch "Child Of The Night" ist von der entspannteren Sorte, dazu gibt's traumhafte Melodien, Funk und ein Spitzen-Duo in Form von Ludacris und Nate Dogg, die wie auch schon auf "Area Codes" aus 2001 sehr gut miteinander harmonieren. Auch mit Timbaland hatte Ludacris ja schon früher gearbeitet, so auch hier. Allerdings ist dessen Beat zu "The Potion" sehr nervig, sodass man den Song doch bald skippt. Im krassen Gegensatz dazu ist "Spur Of The Moment" ein wahrer Ohrenschmaus. Von einem chilligen G-Funk Instrumental begleitet, laufen Luda und sein Gast Legende DJ Quik zu Höchstleistung auf und überbieten sich ständig mit klasse Rhymes, dazu liefert Sängerin Kimmi J. tollen Backgroundgesang. Ein bisschen Crunk-Flavor gibt's mit "Who Not Me" (feat. Small World & Dolla Boy), das mit donnernden Bässen und Synhtie en masse auffährt. Die Single "Pimpin' All Over The World" sollte auch dem ein oder anderen ein Begriff sein. Es ist eine von Polow Da Don produzierte, sehr R'n'B mäßige Nummer, die aufgrund des Klaviers und der schönen Melodie im Hintergrund sehr emotional rüberkommt, was durch den toll gesungenen Refrain von Shootingstar Bobby Valentino perfektioniert wird. Zum Abschluss von "The Red Light District" bekommt man noch etwas Old School geboten. Wie auch auf Nas' "Street's Disciple" ist auch hier ihr gemeinsamer Song "Virgo" mit Altmeister Doug E. Fresh vertreten. Das Instrumental ist sehr schlicht und hat einen sehr eingängigen Rhythmus, aus dem solch drei Größen wie Nas, Ludacris und Doug E. Fresh natürlich das Optimum herausholen.Alles in Allem ist das komplette Album wirklich sehr gut geworden und bietet neben hochwertigen Produktionen vor Allem eines, was heute ja immer seltener wird, nämlich Abwechslung. Hier ist wirklich kein Song wie der andere und auch sehr viele verschiedene Styles und Einflüsse finden sich auf "The Red Light District" wieder. So gut wie z.B. "Word Of Mouf" ist diese Platte zwar nicht, dennoch sollte sie sich ein Ludacris-Fan auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen, genau wie diejenigen, die nach etwas Qualität aus ATL suchen.

Gekaufte CDs zu Bewerten ist immer so eine Sache, weil es hier einzig und allein um den persönlichen Geschmack geht. Deshalb halte ich es eher kurz und allgemein. Wenn man auf das Musikgenre steht, dann ist diese Scheibe ein Pflichtkauf. Die Beats sind durchgängig gut ausgesucht und Ludacris kommt darauf mit seinem Flow und den bekannt deftigen Rhymes.Da gibt es durchaus schlechtere Platten die man sich kaufen kann.

Was a better gift to my husband than I was expecting; great sound and album

Sicherlich geht es nicht jedem so bei diesem Album, doch da Luda mein absoluter Favorit in sachen Rap ist kann ich dieses Album nur mit 5 Sternen bewerten.

メジャーデビューして早くも４作目になるＬＵＤＡＣＲＩＳ。どんどん味わい深くなるフロウにはホントに脱帽。ごらんの通りトラックには非常に豪華メンツの数々。全トラック完成度は非常に高いですが、荒荒らしリリックがありません。Ｄｔｐ発皿１ｓｔを今でも毎日聴いてる私には少々物足りない気はしますが、南部音源はやっぱ最高ノリノリチューン！モヤモヤ感を全てブッちぎってくれる１枚ですよ～。
