Make sure the ad image matches your cover
There are two battery covers here on Amazon, one that matched my model number and one that has an image that matches my battery cover. I purchased the one that matches the image and it fit. I'm not sure if the manufacturer mislabeled my calipers with the wrong model number or these ads have the wrong description info but if you make sure the image matches your cover, you should be good. Also, make sure you don't have any remaining plastic pieces from your old cover lodged in your calipers. If the new battery cover doesn't want to close completely, use a magnifying glass and a sharp pic to clean out the caliper cavities of any broken plastic from the old cover. Fits perfectly after I cleaned out the old cover tabs that broke off in the caliper.

Had to replace my cover as the tangs broke off of the bottom of my old battery cover. This looks near perfect to the original.

Does not fit my 500-196 or 500-171.
The product does not fit due to the left tab being in the wrong location. The original left tab is off center to the left not at the end.

Complete fraud. Doesn't even come close to fitting my Mitutoyo 500-196
Not only are the two teeth at the tip of the "cover" not spaced appropriately, the "cover" itself is wider than the battery compartment. And now they are saying that my return is subject to approval. Very disappointed Amazon.
