Use the paste, not the solid.
SECOND UPDATE It’s been 2 years since I started using this. The formula does seem to be different lately… it’s grainy now. I combat the graininess of the new formula by adding a teeny bit of coconut oil & mixing it with a cuticle stick. But it still works for me. As an experiment, I switched back to my old antiperspirant (Certain Dri Extra Strength) yesterday. HUGE MISTAKE! I could smell myself by mid afternoon. I also had to really scrub my underarms to get it off me. The antiperspirant has a film to it that clings to your skin. Can’t believe how poorly it worked. I switched back to Piper Wai this morning, it’s now 8 PM and I smell fine. I won’t trade this for anything else. UPDATE I decided to try the stick version of this product for ease of use. Not sure if it’s because it goes on thinner or if it’s formulated differently, but I DID NOT like it. After using it 2 days, I discovered it didn’t work as well for me. Besides being more expensive, the fact that I could smell myself by noon??? Ya. No. H3ll no. I immediately bought a new jar and am happy to go back to what works for me. I waited until my 3rd jar to write a review. Note, I DO reapply later in the day just to be safe, and usually before bed, because everyone sweats overnight, so ya, if I don’t want to wake up stinky, I put more on! I’ve tried all the “prescription strength” antiperspirant/deodorants and went the natural route as well. I had a horrible allergic reactions with some of the natural ones, Schmitts has more scent options, but my poor underarms broke out in a rash that made me want to die!! This smells a bit earthy, but I don’t mind it. Adding a couple drops of lavender essential oil when I get a fresh jar & mixing that in with a cuticle stick makes it smell much nicer. I’m not quite willing to spend for the stick version of it yet, the paste works great. You can get a teeny spatula from any makeup counter (Ulta, Sephora, any Dept store...) so you don’t waste a bit of this product. It really doesn’t take much to cover your under arms, and I’m just paranoid, so putting it on 3 times a day is my choice. I expect that this works better for some people than others based on our pH, because I forgot this at home one day & had to borrow my former antiperspirant from my daughter. I smelled horrible within a couple hours. It was embarrassing and proved to me that reviews are truly subjective. I’m sure this doesn’t work for everyone, and that’s such a shame. However, for those that it does help, it is a life changer. I have had no issues with quality control, nor staining of my clothes. It rubs into my skin and disappears. I’m about to order my 4th jar. If my daughter wasn’t so concerned about sweat control, she would use it. This is strictly for odor control... and for that, it works perfectly for me.

This stuff is amazing! For me....
I tried this for the first time and I noticed, at the end of a very long day, that I hadn't once thought about my armpits! This was amusing to me because until that moment, I hadn't realized just how often I had previously been thinking of them. I had always used an anti-perspirant with aluminum tetra-chloroblahblah and while some worked better than others, none worked really well. Throughout the day I would have at least three good reasons to think about my pits with increasing frequency as the hours went by: 1) sweaty, 2) itchy, and 3) offensive, even to myself. To compound my displeasure, all the Bans, and Secrets, and Mennons, and Dials, and etc. left a disagreeable crunchy buildup on my clothes, and an itchy film under my arms that didn't seem to come off even with scrubbing with soap and water. I tried several natural deodorants; in fact, spent a small fortune on them, usually finding that they go on sticky and stay sticky all day, while providing little in the way of odor prevention. I had nearly given up. Enter PIper Wai. Now Piper Wai is a bit of a pain to apply, but once you have it on, it really does the job. No smell at all, even after a double shift, and DRY! Nothing has ever kept me so comfortable all day. It's probably worth noting that there have been about three days in the two months I have been using it that it inexplicably failed. Did I not apply enough? Not spread it around enough? Probably. It hasn't happened lately. Nevertheless, I couldn't be more thrilled, and I don't even mind the hassle of applying the paste because I am confident that no one, not even I, will be thinking about my armpits. Life's simple pleasures! P.S. I don't recommend the stick version of Piper Wai. It goes on oily, and doesn't keep me feeling dry. P.P.S. My first pot had what looked like a thumbprint in it. I contacted Piper Wai about it, who got back to me promptly and courteously with the explanation that some of their filling equipment left a finger-sized depression in the product, and that they were working on a solution to eliminate that potentially off-putting problem, and assured me that no one had been sticking their fingers in my PW before me. I have just ordered my second pot, and have not yet opened it - hopefully no finger-shaped divot in this one. P.P.P.S. I was so excited about this, I sent some to my sister. She says it doesn't work for her at all. Different chemistry?

Make sure the product is oily enough! First jar - dry
I was a bit skeptical at first after opening the jar because the color of the substance seemed a bit different from the one shown in the previous reviews so I decided to do a little research on their website to make sure it's the original formula.. and it was! The applying was a little messy at first but I quickly got the hang of it. I'm still using the first jar and seems like it will last for about 2-2.5months. I was pleasantly surprised it works in sunny CA heat, as well as during a yoga practice. Love the herb-like smell. Atlghough it is an expensive product, it's worth the investment because I finally have a product that doesn't irritate skin (when I used regular deodorant spray my skin on face would get irritated from the fume and armpits were often itchy). I do recommend this product as a more natural alternative. I am very satisfied! UPDATE!!!! After ordering my second jar i realized that all this time using the first one and thinking that dryness of the cream was normal. Thought that little deodorant balls falling on the floor while applying it was part of the process.. I was wrong! The second jar i received has much more oil in it Therefore a lot easier to apply. I believe this is the way it should have been. For the other one the formula was wrong.. I like the deodorant. It makes me feel fresh and unless I've injured armpits with razor, they don't get sensitive. The only thing is if it gets 30deg C or hotter my armpits are still wet.. but not stinky though!

The trick is to not let bacteria get a foothold
TL;DR way better than any other natural deodorant and many regular deodorants, but not as good as the really strong deodorants. I live in the Phoenix metro area, it gets HOT here. Many regular old chemical deodorants don't do the trick for me, anything under 17% aluminum wouldn't cut it, gels never worked. I need pretty specific stuff. I had tried Crystal natural deodorant and could get it to work in the winter when I don't swear but in the summer it stood no chance. This deodorant is pretty impressive, I only find it failing me when I'm Doing things outside in said 105+ heat - I'm those cases my old 19% aluminum deodorant does last longer, but this lasts longer than most regular deodorants and certainly longer than any other 'natural' deodorant I've encountered. On days I work and I'm only outside for short periods of time it works great. I've offically ordered my 2nd jar and use it as my primary deodorant. Some tips from my own learning curve errors: Follow the instructions, this seems like 'duh' but there are 2 bits particularly, (1) apply after a shower -- this stuff works like a barrier against getting stinky in the first place, but you've got to get it on Before any stink bacteria has developed, if you're pits are even a tiny bit smelly before you apply it it isn't nearly as effective. If your pit do smell even only a little, was first then apply. This gets tricky when you shave since any deodorant can be irritating to freshly shaved skin. I often use coconut oil on freshly shaved skin (which also works as a natural deodorant) then put in the piperwai once my pits have had a chance to calm down in 30 min to an hour (2) a pea size amount is a pretty good measure indeed! It does seem to leave a white residue if you expose it to clothes before it has dried bit it brushes/washes off easier than traditional deodorant. Just make sure to rub it in extra well and let it dry some of you're going to be wearing something sleeveless. My other issue living in Arizona - everything gets messed up by the sun. This would be true of any deodorant but usually I get it at the store not a package that sits all day at my door. It seems like it takes a day or two before it's "right", at first it's quite crumbly and hard to apply, I'm finding actually rolling it slightly into a pea shape is helping reduce the crumble drop on my floor effect. ...but this may well be like the time I tried to use chapstick in the summer and ended up pouting the hot Liquid all down my face and lips. The Arizona sun is rude to everything.

LOVE IT!
AMAZING. Probably the best thing (aside from Scrub Daddy) to have ever been featured on Shark Tank. I have serious skin allergies so I was breaking out and getting horrid rashes when using deodorants. I tried so, so many that said they were for sensitive skin but they (1) did not work and you had bo, they (2) smelled awful, or (3) they still gave me these burning rashes and sores. My mom saw PiperWai and told me I should spend a little more money and try this one out. Darn, she was right, this is the BEST deodorant that I have ever used. The pros include (1) it actually works and you smell great, even if you put it directly on top of your smelly pits in an emergency. It also (2) works for a long period of time! I find it to be super reliable. The charcoal color is really cool, it works, and it is easy to put on. I just love it! This is my go-to and only brand of deodorant now.

It works for me
I have a been using it for about one month now. It actually works, in my experience. I've tried a couple/few other all-natural deodorants over the years, and they have not worked AT ALL. This is the first one that I have tried that actually works. I was very surprised that it worked so well to both neutralize body odor and also absorb perspiration. It actually works significantly better for me than all the other traditional (and toxic?) anti-perspriant/deodorants out there that I have used over many years. So now I not only have a product which actually works much better for me, it is supposedly also better for my health. One other thing I wanted to mention. The aroma of the product is not necessarily wonderful in my judgment. It is not a bad aroma per se, but I would not say it would be my choice of aroma. It is kind of a strongish minty aroma or something like that. I guess they must need it to smell that way for some reason. I suppose the ingredients they need to make it work well are the reasons it needs to smell this way. But I am going to go with 5 stars regardless of the aroma because to me it really works in doing what it says it can do, and at this point I can live with the aroma. If they happen to come out with better aromas in the future without compromising being all-natural and effective, that would be nice. And of course if they eventually put it in a rub on stick form, that would be more convenient. But again, I would hope that they would not sacrifice the all-natural ingredients and effectiveness of the product just to put it in stick form or add new aromas. At this point I will be buying another jar when this one runs out.

Good for Post Partum smell
I have mixed feelings about this product. Here are my personal pro & cons. PROS: -comes in a glass jar so you can repurpose it -lasts a long time since a little goes a long ways -it’s actually natural!! -you don’t have to worry about the deodorant stick breaking or leaking everywhere, since it’s in a jar CONS: -I’d like a different scent. It’s weird having minty armpits to me -You have to be careful of the temp. It’ll melt or freeze. Not really a con, just a note. -You have to prep your pits for it to work really well. I either use witch hazel or apple cider vinegar before putting it on and I have more luck with that. Otherwise I need to reapply it twice, once midday and once before going to sleep. -It would be better if there were some sort of applicator? I don’t really like scooping it out with my finger -It does stain a bit, but I don’t really mind Overall, I’ll probably buy this again. I’m a brand new mom and the post partum smell is real!! This helps. I also opted for a natural deodorant since I’m breastfeeding and didn’t want my baby around any chemicals found in traditional deodorants.

Works great for smell, but can cause reaction and difficult to apply
This stuff works amazing as far as eliminating bad odor is concerned. It is the only natural deodorant that truly provides 24 hour protection at least for me. I really wanted to love it, but I had developed painful sensitivity 4 day after using it. It started on day 2 or day 3 with a discomfort, then my skin became painful to the touch or even clothing rubbing against it. I had no visible rash or redness, I still have sensitivity over a week later after I stopped using it, not sure what it is. I had always used only natural products, so it's not the "detox" thing from charcoal some people refer to, I had used Crystal brand of deodorant and coconut oil on my skin. I must be allergic to some ingredient unfortunately, or maybe intense rubbing motion caused irritation, which brings me to my other complaint - delivery mechanism. It's very tedious to apply, because the paste is thick and it gets everywhere around my sink when I try to rub it. It also wastes a lot more product than recommended pea size amount, no way it is enough for adult armpits. Maybe my product was too dry, as it was rolling off the skin and getting everywhere. Update Oct 24: I have figured out a way to use it that agrees with my sensitive skin. I apply the layer of moisturizer first and then this deodorant. It turns out that the instructions to apply this product to the dry and clean skin is what was causing me irritation, I need a layer of protection. I use coconut oil as a moisturizer and since it's also one of the ingredients in this product, it goes quite well together. Applying this thick dry paste to my oily underarms is a lot easier too and wastes less product. I had used it for over week now and no irritation yet. I still don't like the method of application and the consistency of the paste, hence the 4 star rating. But it works great for odor protection!

What a palaver! Smells nice, but a terribly messy application.
This product is scented with essential oils and smells lovely. I notice that some reviewers have said that it smells like perspiration, this has been far from the case for me, it must be an issue with personal chemistry for some users. The problem for me is that this deodorant is difficult and messy to apply and I find that I rarely use it, because it's just too much trouble if I'm tired, on a strict schedule, wearing a light coloured bra or top, have just cleaned the bathroom sink, or am just not in the mood for a frustrating experience. It is a 'damp' powder that you emulsify between your fingers, so that you can smooth it on your skin. There's no neat or elegant way to dig around in the jar, and I end up with a lot under my nails. As you apply, some of the product crumbles onto you or the surfaces near you and when you rub it into your underarm, there is a point where you take it too far (which is impossible to predict) and it starts to thickly streak on your skin and, because it is a murky colour, your pits look grotty. Sometimes this excess (which you may not always see before dressing) rubs off onto your clothes, so be careful if you're wearing light colours. I love the idea of this product and I'm all for the scent, the effectiveness as a deodorant and the fact that it's natural and cruelty-free, but unless they come up with a better method of application, I would never buy it again. Also, the lid was cracked when it arrived.

Good natural product
Did not arrive in perfect condition the oil and paste separated Good product hard to apply

Crumbly texture
Product works well, is silky on my skin and has a nice smell! The formulation is very crumbly to start with and hard to handle.. I have to use a scoop and work it into a ball, once it is squished together it’s easy to apply. Wouldn’t buy it again unless they work on the formula to make it a bit more ‘sticky’
