“ The God I Never Knew gives life-changing insight into the mystery of the Holy Spirit.”—Craig Groeschel, senior pastor of Life.Church and author of Dangerous Prayers Many people find the Holy Spirit mysterious and confounding. Why is the third person in the Godhead—the one Jesus said would be the believer’s ultimate source of truth and comfort—the source of such confusion? In The God I Never Knew , Robert Morris clearly explains that the Holy Spirit’s chief desire is for relationship—to offer us the encouragement and guidance of a trusted friend. This insightful and biblically-based book—including a small group study guide—moves beyond theological jargon, religious tradition, and cultural misconceptions to clarify what the Holy Spirit promises to do in your life: · Dwell within you · Be your helper · Guide you into all truth · Comfort you · Pray for you · Show you things to come · Never leave you It’s time to experience the Holy Spirit in a fresh, new way to meet the God you may have never known. Review: Once finished, my faith in the Holy Spirit was invigorated and renewed! - This is not a book you can 'gloss' over or do an 'Evelyn Woods' speed reading approach. Every word needs to be carefully 'savored' to gain the full experience of the author's intent--to ignite the reader on fire for the Holy Spirit. When I first acquired this book and did the routine back page quick read over the reviews and summation of the book, it sat on my shelf for a very long time before I finally picked it up and did more than a cursory glance through the table of contents. Once I actually began to dig into the book and read it, instead of looking for the 'cliff notes' to a faster approach, the reality hit me that 'this' was the book I should have read first, as the outcome has more impact per paragraph than the other previous books I had read on the same subject. The writing world is so overwhelmed in written material spiritually that to settle on a topic is a major undertaking, let alone perusing new authors to find someone who not only knows what they are talking about, but that they have a voice that excites the reader as well. This book has exactly the right mix of 'information' along with 'accurate biblical text' to confirm everything the writer is emphasizing about the Holy Spirit. I was blown away when I had found that many of my past experiences in my personal relationship with God were in all reality an intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Not only does the author clarify the trinity and its' importance, but he adds his own personal examples to amplify the difference between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Many of my past 'experiences' in my personal relationship were explained while reading this book, and it put my mind at ease knowing that it was not only a 'normal' anomaly, but an even more intimate and personal encounter. This book is a 'keeper'. I donate many of my spiritual books to a local 'free book' box for others to peruse because quite frankly most of them are good for one read only. This book has so much more to offer; additional points to reflect upon while experiencing the many 'gifts' offered by the Holy Spirit (my BFF now) that I intend to keep it on my desk for constant referral when those treasured intimate moments consume me. Yes, this is a great book. No, it's not for those looking to materialize their dreams on the fast track train to heaven. It is meant to develop your relationship with the Holy Spirit. If you have more material intentions in mind, then this book is not for you. It's for those spiritually in need of that one-on-one with God and they simply want to feel him embracing them at all times. It's kinda nice to have such a cuddly warm relationship with our Lord! You should try it! Review: Opened My Understanding to the Holy Spirit - I’ve heard about the Holy Spirit since I was a cild, and understood what His purpose is in our lives, but this book helped me to understand Him more fully. i would recommend this to anyone who wants a deeper walk with God.

God loves us, His Son's blood forgave ALL of our sins, for everyone of us!
We are the sons and daughters of God, the creator of all, who is light, no darkness is in Him, He is ALL powerful. He is 3 in 1. He is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, All God. Him the Holy Spirit is God, He dwells in believers. Jesus, sent Him to us, to protect and to edify, to transform us. We were created to fellowship with our creator, He loves us so much He sent His only begotten Son, to shed His blood, to cover our sins, we ALL, are forgiven! I have known God, loved Jesus since I was a girl. Pastor Robert has, lead me into the presence of God, the Holy Spirit wants to fellowship with us, all we will let Him, all the. time. Pastor Robert Morris is on TBN he became my pastor because of the pandemic of covid. Robert gives scriptures for all the teaching, he shares the Word, Jesus, the bible is a spiritual book, for us spiritual beings. The bible is of Jesus, He is the word, He is our redeemer, we are His bride. His kingdom is coming

How to “be strong in the Lord.”
This book opened my eyes wider to God's great amazing purpose in my life as I strive to walk by faith and not just by sight. Sometimes we as Born Again Christians forget God gave us a comforter and Helper. The Holy Spirit is here on this earth to guide each and every believer in Jesus Christ. We try to solve problems and handle things in our own way when He is standing right beside us waiting to carry our load. Our salvation has already been purchased for us. I dearly like Robert Morris words "God has set a place for them at the bountiful banquet table of His Holy Spirit. But they never come; My prayer is that you won’t spend another day in meager cheese-and-crackers Christianity when a banquet of gifts and empowerments has already been purchased for you. He came with the purchase of your ticket to heaven. Is the Holy Spirit your best friend? He can be today". Amen to a loving and patient God whom holds All things true.

This book helped set me free from the spirit of religion.
As a lifelong Southern Baptist dissatisfied with the limited power within the Baptist churches I begged God for wisdom and knowledge of His Word. He led me back to the book of Acts which I could not refute the teachings of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Even Paul after over 20 years since the initial outpouring asked his early if not first question to the strangers he met if they had received the Holy Spirit. He didn't ask if they had been saved or water baptized. Somehow this revelation led me to this book I can't even tell you how I discovered it. I read it and I felt like Pastor Robert had read my mind about all the questions of receiving the Holy Spirit and coming out of a similar denomination. It is simple and easy to understand and full of truth as I have now realized. Thank You Pastor Robert for getting this out there!

A new relationship with the God I never knew.
I had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit many years ago but had not fully accepted the full power. A few weeks ago I began to receive prodding of my lack of putting His presence in the proper relationship in my life until I finally was convicted enough to go on line in search of spiritual help. I searched through a list of books that offered insights that would no doubt help me and I was lead to your book twice. I had never heard of you or read any of your material but I could not deny the knowledge that this was the tool I needed. I attend a wonderful Bible teaching church but the full power of the Holy Spirit is not always evident. I used my prayer language occasionally but I felt I was missing the importance that the Holy Spirit should be working in my life and I found it in The God I Never Knew. I am 81 years old and am praising my friend the Holy Spirit that he would not let me leave this earth without realizing His worth. Thank you for writing this book, I feel I am equipped for many new experiences.

Neglected Area of Christianity Addressed
First a disclaimer, I lived in Texas for several years (I've moved since) and I went to Gateway Church for many years (I was there when the church services were in the basement of a school, and when we built the first building in Southlake.) Robert is perhaps the most gifted preacher I have ever heard. It has been my experience that some of the best preachers don't make the transition into writing smoothly, and I place Robert in that category. (Although his "Blessed Life" book is excellent.) I guess what I am saying is that before you fully judge the book, you should probably pop over to GatewayPeople{dot}com and listen/watch the series there (which you can do for free.) As for the book, it tackles an important subject, which is usually neglected, and does it in a very approachable way. A lot of Christians who may find the Holy Spirit "scary" can read this book and have their fears relieved. As the other reviewers have said, this happens in the first half of the book, and it does so very well. For that alone, this book is worth reading. I get the feeling though, that it is missing a part. It feels like it ended too soon without really getting into the details of how to develop and foster this relationship. As someone who lived through the explosive growth of Gateway church, I can attest first hand to the fact that Robert is not pretending here... I believe he has the kind of relationship with the Holy Spirit that he details in the book... I'm not sure that the reader comes away with a firm understanding of how they can get that for themselves -- but I am not completely sure that is a fault of the book. Relationships have to be built one step at a time. Reading a book on marriage won't give you a great marriage, after all. It takes time to develop that. At least this book points you in the right direction. Even if you come away form the book thinking: "Wow, I never knew you could have a relationship with a spirit, and I really want that..." you are better for having read this book. If you are on the fence, I would say buy it, read it, and then go to the website to hear Robert's sermons on it. Even a little of the Holy Spirit is better than no Holy Spirit -- which is where most Christians today seem to be...

What an Awesome Book!
I was fortunate to read The Blessed Life, also by Robert Morris, and I only gave it 4 stars. But when researching the Holy Spirit, I came across this one. All I remembered about Morris was that he is scriptural based, so I bought the book. Wow! So glad I did. You'll learn about the Holy Spirit as a person,a member of the Holy Trinity. You will understand as much as we can know about t he Spirit as comforter , counselor and friend. All of this is carefully documented with scripture. I kept my Bible beside me and looked up every reference. Then Morris goes into a careful discussion of those points where many fear to go: gifts of the spirit. Are they still occurring today? He goes over each one and then dives into the ever controversial speaking in tongues. He discusses charismatic denominations in a clear, respectful way. I won't spoil it by discussing everything. I got a lot more out of this book than I expected. I have a renewed excitement about the Holy Spirit and his gifts, and a better understanding of them. Highly recommend!

It is clear and easy to read
In this book, Robert Morris expertly explains the person, role and necessity of the Holy Spirit. It is clear and easy to read, yet it's simplicity in style doesn't diminish the wealth of knowledge and teaching contained, all of which are rooted in scripture and explained by a man who understands the Bible.

The God I never knew - neu kennenlernen

like myself, are (were) not familiar with Acts 8
Just about finished...happened to be here anyhow...and what makes this book so powerful and worthy of its purchase is the fact, considering I am an ordained Pastor with a Master's degree in biblical studies, who should have known this, is that I'm guessing the majority of Christians, including leadership, like myself, are (were) not familiar with Acts 8:14-17 ... or have been innocently redirected as a result of denominational pride and hindrance. [14When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.] If you desire to live life at its fullest, you're going to need more than limiting yourself to the born-again experience. Just recently after 30+ years of study & research, did yours truly humbly realize why he had failed three previous times on a 20+ year project; I was still attempting to fulfill my purpose in my own strength, and that's impossible to do without the power of the Holy Spirit within ... suddenly ... the pieces begin falling into place...thank you, Jesus!
