Primary Phonics: Workbook 1

I use this book towards the middle of teaching kindergarten as a supplemental resource. Great for sight word and cvc word practice. It’s excellent for teaching sentence structure too.

She loves doing this more than I thought she would! Great for beginning reading skills with a variety of activities that follows a systematic sequence

I’ve bought this in correspondence with the book series. My child’s school uses the books and I bought them to supplement at home. I love the work book the repitive nature of it is effective and useful. I feel as though this has definitely had a positive benefit for my child who was struggling and is slightly difficult to keep attention. I do not write in the books so I cannot say if the pages bleed or hold up to a learning writer but they are clear easy to read/copy and flow very nicely from page to page.I’ll definitely continue to buy the work books and series levels as we progress through them.

This is an excellent series. (workbooks and accompanying readers) I have used it for years in my grade 1 classrooms helping second language students to learn to read in English. It is also very useful to reinforce weaker readers. I just recently bought it for my young grandson so he can get a head start in learning to read while being home during the pandemic. Btw, there is a teacher’s manual that accompanies this series. I’m not sure if Amazon carries it, but it gives a step by step approach to teaching the program.

My 3-year-old daughter started reading when she was 2 years old, so I was looking for a workbook to supplement her learning. This workbook is great! I'm not an educator, and have not done a ton of research or have compared this to other similar workbooks, but from I can tell, it's very well laid out. The lesson progression makes intuitive sense and holds the attention of my child. I don't like the really colorful books (this workbook is all black and white) because I think they detract from the essence of the lessons. We do about 1 page a day, and she loves it. She just turned 4 and I will soon order workbook 2.

My son's VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten)'s teacher started using this book at the beginning of the year. By the time school was finished, he had completed more than half the book. I was so surprised at how much he had learned. Over the summer, we kept the moving through the book. Although I do sit with him to help him, he does most of the work independently.He is Kindergarten now and unfortunately, they're moving at such a slow pace we have continued to use this book at home. I've ordered workbook #2. I think this has given my son a very strong foundation for his future education.

I absolutely love this program in conjunction with ABC Mouse for sight words. It’s great for my daughter on a IEP. I gave the school system 3 years with her and she didn’t know kindergarten basics. We started homeschooling four months ago and I had no idea what was doing. I’ve learned the most about homeschooling from reading these reviews. Now my daughter is reading. All day long. Every day more fluent- more confident. I highly recommend homeschooling iep kids after our experience and this program is a good part of WHY we are successful when the school wasn’t.

Outside to the simple and easy to follow flow of the workbook it does exactly what's it's intended to. Nothing flashy, just old fashion reinforcement of basics to pronunciation and spelling.

Good for a child struggling with CVCs to work through the book, but nothing I haven't got already from other schemes and in a more engaging format.
