Hooke Road Wrangler JK Hood Lift Support Struts Assist Kit Compatible with Jeep Wrangler JK & Unlimited 2011-2018 - Pair

The hood struts are a great upgrade to your wrangler. It allows you to bypass the whole act of manually lifting the hood and fighting with the support rod while balancing the hood with one arm. The installation instructions are pictures and not very detailed, but there is a YouTube video that shows how to construct and install the product. Overall it's a very good product, installing is very easy and it's a great upgrade.

It's been such a pain to wrestle with keeping the hood up, wrestling with the little support arm while I am trying to climb on the bumper to be tall enough anyway. This kit was easy to install, didn't require any modifications, and works like a champ pushing and holding the hood up. I don't know why this isn't a factory upgrade, but cheap and easy for you. If you're looking, just get it and install it - you'll be glad you did. Note - it does spring the hood up when it's just latched at the radiator without the side clamps, which is actually a nice safety feature so you don't get on the highway only to find that you didn't properly secure everything from working in their earlier. Good stuff!

Going on line and watching the install video really helps. Directions that come with are small and kind of hard to see. The install was very simple and is a must have for jeep owners.

I installed these on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler JKU Sahara Edition, for reference. Here are the basic bullet points that came to mind during installation and after: - Directions are ALMOST good. The print and (larger) pictures could have been spread across multiple pages instead of being crammed onto 1 page. It would help greatly to really be able to more easily see the detail. But I did like how the important parts were circled to help. - Good quality of materials. I really don't anticipate failure of these anytime soon. - The hardware included needs to be identified a little more clearly to avoid installing the wrong bolts in the wrong places. - Solid brackets to attach to the Jeep body. Identifiers should be printed directly on the brackets, in my opinion. - I like the way they look. - Function 100% perfectly once installed. - Makes opening the hood SUPER easy. Not too stiff to close, either. Overall, I want to rate this set as 4.5 Stars, but since that's not an option... 4 Stars

For anyone wondering it will work on the older JK models as well I installed mine on a 08 JK. Works great and took 15 minutes to install and no longer have to use the hood stick to hold up the hood

The instuctions are as bad as it gets..extremely small pictures with vague, instructions. I was able to figure it out using a video in another person's review. They turned out great! I'm impressed how well these look and operate. I have other Hooke Road products on my Jeep JK, so I knew I was getting a quality product. No more worries of the hood falling on my head while doing maintenance. Hood is opens very smooth. I would say it was probably worth the exact price I paid for it on Amazon.

I was intimidated by some reviews but they're pretty easy to install. Once I read through the instructions and took a good look at all the pieces, it took 10 mins tops for both sides. Popping the hood is like night and day now. Another successful Jeep mod!

Originally, I bought the much more expensive pair of red line struts, but they didn’t work, so I thought I would give these a shot and they worked wonderfully… overall I couldn’t be more happy. These are strong and I’m confident they won’t let me down in the future. Make routine maintenance so much easier!
