does the orbit manafold end cap require an O ring?

Yes. My end cap included an o-ring.

Is this compatible with rachio 2nd gen controllers?

I have no idea....I bought this for someone else.

I bough a 3-volve manifolds. Two solenoids have cracks. Will these cracks cause leaking?

Return them if they have cracks. That is not normal.

Installed easily and works as expected. Very nice quality.

This unit was purchased to replace a 30+years old sprinkler system. The design with a lot of hand-tightable unions is great to make it fit correctly to the existing pipe layout. I replaced 3 such systems for a total of 12 zones using a state of the art orbit electronic control station. Now it all works automatically according to weather forecast or manually from my iPhone. A tremendous improvement to what I had installed over 30 years ago.
