What is the size of the atomizer/piezio in this fogger?

The actual whole unit is about 50mm or 2 inches in diameter, the actual ceramic bit is about the size of a 5p UK coin. Plopped mine in to a plastic coffee cup 1/4 filled with water and it gave off a wonderful smoke effect I wanted for a photo shoot. Hope this helps.

Could I use this on drinks instead of dry ice to create a fog effect?

Yes you could, however it would not be very hygienic. It is low voltage but I would have thought too risky if there was ever to be a fault.

Do you have to put in water for this to work?

Basically yes!!! But not the plug end as this goes into the mains socket. Connect it up and put the silver bit into water and cover it up and turn it on. Hope this helps?

Does anyone know if it possible to channel the output, say through a short pipe for example

It would be possible but you would need to generate some airflow through the pipe via a small variable speed fan or something similar.. I have used one to replace an dimplex opti-myst fire unit
