If you are looking for a way to get a little more life out of your old first generation Google Home Mini speakers, this is perfect. Yes, the amount absolutely works with the first generation h0a speakers. The only caveat to this is that the cable can be bent when inserting the speaker if you use an aftermarket cable. The cables that came with your old Mini fit tight but without bending or breaking. And aftermarket cable can be used but just be aware of how you are inserting the speaker and make sure not to put too much pressure on the cable end that inserts into the speaker. As you can see from my pictures, and video, I used Plasti dip to make mine a flat black to match the other lighting trim and AC vents in my guest room. This was very easy and worked great. I've been used a four and a half inch hole saw and within 10 minutes, the first generation speaker was off of the nightstand and out of the way. I have paired this with a matching first gen Google Mini and it is an excellent, and easy, speaker solution for a guest bedroom that doesn't get used that often. The Mount Genie solution is quite elegant. It's a great design that is easy to work with and compatible with both first and second generation Google Mini speakers.

Installation, yeah I'm not a electrician 👩‍🔧 😂, 1st time he tried to hardwire 👨‍🔧 it to existing switch 📴, wouldn't recommend that 😂💣🚫, it blew 💣 my charge port on my mini, so we installed a ✌🏼 gang outlet 🔌 & stuck it in the wall 🧱 with the original plug 🔌 attached to it. It will fit a mini 1️⃣ & 2️⃣, both fit perfect just with the mini 1️⃣ you have to use the micro cable, had both in the mount at 1 point. Sound 🔊 is great, stability 💪🏻 is great, easy to remove if needed for reset, installation difficult 😂 not sure how to use the cables 🔌that came with it, we have wifi 📶 so no need for the ether adapter, put a 2 gang outlet in the box & stabilized it inside the wall 🧱. Originally had ✌🏼 individual switches for the light 💡 and the fan 🌬 in the bathroom 🚽 we converted to single pole and a combo switch. All in all I love it. 💜

The hole for the plugin is too small. Had to cut the plug thinner to fit in. But other than that everything works as intended.

I used two of these to install two second gen nest speakers. (Updating because now I'm back to buy a 3rd. The ceiling speaker is so good, had to install another). They fit very nicely, and are a pretty easy install. Pre-drill the screws into the bracket so it's easier once you're trying to fit it in place behind the drywall. You may need to notch out some of the drywall and the area where the wire comes down if using the stock wire without the extender. Pro tip - you can change your Google device settings to swap the orientation of the up and down buttons, in case you have to install it upside down.

I like how it got the device off my work station and no wires to be seen because the can be ran in the wall.

Snaps in snugly and easy to install. I painted mine black to match the installation location, which came out well. If you're doing that too, don't forget to paint the tiny outside edge (doh).

Gen 2 mount shipped with barrel Jack extension and adapter. The gen 2 needs micro USB. I don't need the extension in my situation, and I'm sure it was a mistake/mix up in their packaging dept.

Nice looking, easy install though added silicon as glue to be sure didn't fall from ceiling. Probably fine for wall mount.

Ça fonctionne aussi sur une Home mini. Juste qu'il faudra ouvrir un peu votre placo au niveau de la sortie pour ne pas tordre le câble d'alimentation.

Absolutely does fit Gen1 Mini, despite what the description says. You just have to use the original cable or the correct extension cable for the Gen1. Took minutes to install. Sounds much better too.
