Looks awesome but install was a pain (AM3+ Socket)
Ok here is the PositiveThis cooler looks awesome and works great so far.Now the ConsAlthough it may look awesome the install was a total joke. I have installed hundreds of cpu cooling fan without the headaches I had of this one. First the instruction manual is a joke and isn't helpful in the least. I had to go on youtube to watch their video to even get a basic idea but that still was a joke and only shows 1 Intel installation and 1 AMD installation but not for each different socket type, And to find a better set of instructions on the internet is like pulling teeth. Next Be sure you tape your back plate on or else the problems arise even farther. The little washers that they provide and need to be installed for AMD were a nightmare to keep in place. Don't forget going by the video and instruction manual you need the thin washers and then the riser spacers together which I couldn't understand why they didn't just make the riser spacers that extra length to compensate for the washers to begin with. Well so I thought until I got to the point where I had just finished installing everything, Then noticed the whole unit just wiggled and moved around on the processor with ease. So I then had to remove everything to remove the thin washers. Then you have the long mounting screws that for the life of me wouldn't screw tight no matter whats done. You will need a shorter screw driver with a proper sized phillips tip or else they will strip out easily. Even then it's bound the mounting hardware will still be loose. The aluminum mounting hardware screwed down tight then after all this is when I realized it's better to remove the thin washers to keep a proper tight fit to sit the shroud down onto the processor properly or else it just wiggles all over the place. At first glance of taking this CPU Cooler out of the box I was going to purchase another one for an AM4 system I just built but now after this crazy nightmare of an install I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

Very quiet fan, but on AM4 can't blow air out towards back
Cools very well and fan is very quiet. I bought this brand specifically because I had previously used a be quiet fan and know they have good acoustics. However, I took one star off because this cooler's mounting only let's you face the fan either upwards or downwards, not the correct direction of blowing air from the RAM sticks out the back of motherboard. I learned afterwards others complain about this same problem on AM4 boards. As I have closed my top case, I chose to have the fan blow downwards towards my GPU(!), but there's a front fan that then blows the air out back so my temps have been fine. That said, I will eventually replace this with a Noctua fan when I also upgrade my GPU to 1080Ti as then temps may become an issue.

A fantastic budget heatsink
I bought this heatsink for a compact mITX build in a Fractal design core 500 case. I chose the "Pure Rock" over the "Pure Rock Slim" because this heatsink has real mounting hardware and does not use those silly little plastic push pins like the Slim.Mounting this heatsink is very easy. The mounting hardware included is very similar to Noctuas Secufirm2. It holds firm and has a thick metal backplate to distribute the forces. Mounting this is much, much easier, than my old Shadow Rock 2 which was a nightmare to mount. I'm glad be quiet! has changed the mounting hardware on some of their products. This heatsink includes a be quiet! Silent Wings 2 120mm fan. They only include one pair of clips so you can not do a push pull configuration without contacting be quiet! for more clips. The fan is practically silent at 1000RPM and under which is where I keep it.While the be quiet! Pure Rock costs a little more than something like the Hyper 212 you get a very nice fan and in my opinion a much better looking heatsink for only a little bit more. I'd definitely recommend this if you're in the market for a budget 120mm tower cooler.

Requesting an AM4 Bracket is not that Easy
Listed as being AM4 compatible. Did not come with any of the gear required. I went to their website to request one. I need to pick a cooler from a drop down list to complete the form. THIS COOLER WAS NOT LISTED! I also need to provide my motherboard invoice. Don't have it anymore. I physically bought it from a Microcenter. As of now I have a CPU cooler that is listed as being AM4 compatible with no way of actually making it so.I do plan to update my review as soon as support responds to me. I find this disappointing, because it does look like a well performing heatsink.

Put a piece of scotch mounting tape between fan and heat sink.
I bought the be quiet! BK009 for my silent intel i7 9700K hackintosh build. The idle temperature is around 37 degree C which is OK for an air cooler. The fan is near silent during idle. The normal operating cpu temperature is around 37 to 68.The fan to heat sink mounting needs a padding or it will rattle. -1 star for not including extra fan mount clip. Needed to purchase it from be quite separately. I end up putting an extra fan on the heat sink for a push-pull configuration. It reduce the max temp by 4 degree which is needed for slight overclocking. If you hear rattling from this heat sink and fan, try putting a piece of scotch mounting tape between the heat sink and the fan. -1 star for not including padding between fan and heatsink.

Uneven mounting pressure on LGA 2011
Pros:- looks good- relatively simple Intel mounting- very quiet; almost inaudibleCons:- uneven mounting pressure against the socket has caused my CPU not to hit its advertised boost clock across all cores in heavy loads; I think this is due to the rectangular shape of LGA 2011 (E5 2670 @ 3.3GHz boost)- another fault of the mounting mechanism and LGA 2011 is that this does not cool all the cores equally and even under load there is a 5C difference across half the coresI have also used this cooler in a build with an AMD Athlon X4 860K and I can say that it does not have the same mounting pressure issues as LGA 2011. I know socket 2011 is a niche socket but its becoming increasingly more popular as server CPUs come down in price and are attractive for budget builds. Overall the installation on both platforms is good and the performance is acceptable for a cooler in this price range.

Truly Quite.
I personally found this fan top notch, in fact it was suggest to me by someone. I had on my old build a Corsair liquid cooler however it wasn't exactly very quite and over a couple years it started to get extremely noisy on boot and in general when it was idle. Picked this up for my new build early on in the year and so far it has been brilliant, I've had no trouble with it and as of yet it has kept my CPU cooled very well. I only trouble I did have was mounting it to my board and I had to use the backplate and mount, however this was more due to the memory port location and having quite big hands and other bits and pieces making it somewhat difficult. I didn't by the fan from Amazon the first time around as I found a cheaper deal else where but I did buy one this time around for putting onto my brothers PC (My old loud PC, which isn't loud any more) and already the noise is a hell of a lot better. I myself cannot fault this fan and it holds up well, time will tell. Lastly. The fan is extremely quite, I still hear it now and again but I would compare the noise to a soft whisper.

Brilliant!
This is amazingly quiet - as near to silent as I've heard, especially after my Corsair water cooled unit which was sounding like a vacuum cleaner in comparison! One little heads up; After fitting I got an error message on startup "CPU FAN ERROR! PRESS F1 FOR SETTINGS". This is because my previous cooler was set to run at 600rpm on startup and the Pure Rock starts much lower. There are many videos on Youtube to show you how to simply correct this. I reset mine to 200rpm.

replaced an old fan which sounded like a jet turbine once the CPU got hot
replaced an old fan which sounded like a jet turbine once the CPU got hot. replaces with this Be Quiet fan. Zero noise from this one and the CPU runs much cooler than before. I've seen other comments about the heat sink not fitting inside the case. I had not trouble at all and fitted perfectly. If I had to be picky, my only little criticism would be its a little fiddly to install if installing into a tight space. Not major and not enough to post anything less than 5 stars and its a really great product.

Keeps my desktop rig cool, near silent
My desktop computer uses a i7-4790 (and runs Linux). For a few months it sounded like a hairdryer, and the CPU was running at about 45C when idle. I just thought it was wear 'n tear, and was considering purchasing a new "silent" case or new desktop PC. Someone on a forum recommended I first try to change the CPU fan, and recommended this model.Installation was very straight forward. I didn't have any issues, and didn't have to remove my motherboard as my case has a "cut-out" where the CPU sits (i.e. I was able to remove both panels on my case, remove the old CPU fan, put the back-plate in place, and then screw in/assemble the heatsink and fan. It's now "near silent", and runs at 30C when idle, and 48C when under full load. I don't really do any gaming - I mostly compile large projects, watch YouTube on an attached TV, do work stuff on an attached 2K monitor etc... I sometimes leave my machine on 24/7 for weeks at a time as I can access my desktop over SSH while I'm away.I couldn't be happier with this CPU cooler, and will definitely be purchasing another one when I finally get around to building a Ryzen rig.

Good but not as cool as expected
Definitely a quiet cooler. Though a bit fiddly to fit the fan to the cooler itself, the rest slots together fine. And it fits on a standard AM4 fitting motherboard without having to take the backplate off which is a MASSIVE plus.Only downside is that it doesn't cool much better than the stock cooler for me - though I am getting a few (3-6) degrees celsius cooler than before so at least that's something.
