Do you dream of having a horse that is respectful and responsive to your requests? So many of the issues that get in the way of peak horse and human partnerships are rooted in miscommunication. Author and gifted horse instructor Debbie Steglic provides great insight into understanding and improving communication between you and your horse. Armed with knowledge about different horse personalities, learning styles, horses nonverbal language, and horse gestures, you can dramatically improve your horse's confidence and performance while also improving your own horsemanship. This extraordinary book provides great insights and solutions that will reignite your love affair with your horse and take your partnership to new levels! Review: Excellent book if you wish to become a better horse person! - This book is great! It is written in an easy way to understand and gives practical things you can do today. Helps the reader understand horses and their psycology better in order to have better success and safety. For example, one new thing I learned that say you are trail riding your horse. There are some helium balloons which fell to the ground, and your horse is nervous of them. This book teaches how to help your horse be comfortable with them being there including walking by the balloons so he can see them out of his left eye, and then walking back where you came from, so he can see them with his right eye. The horses brain will settle with the balloons better after seeing them from each eye. I had no idea! It teaches a myriad of gems like this. Now my 12 year old daughter is reading this and she is learning so much! I highly recommend this book. Review: Going softly, gaining trust, working with the horse in a way they understand. - I enjoy everything about Debbie's book. She gives a nice history of herself with horses as a newbie... Then she moves on to the mission she sought out to gain knowledge to help herself and her horses. It's pretty much a step by step in first gaining trust. Then proceeds to doing FUN play with ground work. The book helps to develop clear communication skills between horse and human. No force, no tricks, no gimmicks.. Importance is stressed in rewarding the horse for its 'try' at whatever task is being asked . Once the horse and human has gained trust and communication skills, or dialog, the book moves up to more advanced skills and so on.. The author stresses to "TAKE THE TIME IT TAKES.... SO IT TAKES LESS TIME".. What does that mean?..... It means to go slow, be clear, be sure the communication is understood between horse and human.. Once that communication is understood, the time it will take to ACCOMPLISH any task is reduced to that progress is made. Some horses take longer to process or understand things than other horses who pick it up quickly. The author explains there are horses who are naturally confident and curious. These horses typically learn and understand things quickly. There are horses who are very unconfident and maybe fearful... Those horses take longer to get to the communication and trust breakthrough. There are horses who are confident, but may lack motivation.... there are ways to peak their interest in doing things that the human wants or asks without force, fear, or intimidation. There are horses who are extremely unconfident and extremely fearful. They will seek flight and or fight before they get to the communication breakthrough... But they can and do become PARTNERS... The author addresses the various types of horses and how to become SUCESSFUL with them. The bottom line, in my opinion .... You will only get out what you put into your horsemanship... Junk in will equal junk out. This book is none of that. This book offers ways to put quality time and effort into your horsemanship.. TAKE THE TIME IT TAKES ... LOVE THIS BOOK.

Priceless!
Debbie has created an awesome book that contains in-depth information, problem solving strategies, and specific techniques on how to communicate effectively with your horse. It has made a difference in my thinking about my horse and his point of view. While some books about natural horsemanship that I have read, provide an engaging narrative but often lack the information on the how-to's of natural horsemanship. Debbie has mastered the skill of explaining how to identify and address horse behaviors effectively. Additionally, this well-written book demonstrates her deep knowledge of how to communicate with horses successfully. She skillfully portrays and underscores critical information and insights by using her own experiences and examples of what one needs to do in specific situations and/or solve problems with success. I've had the wonderful opportunity to have Debbie as a trainer and the confidence my horse and I have gained is absolutely priceless. Others, who have watched me work my horse with the techniques and strategies that Debbie has taught me and the insight I gained from reading her book, often make comments like "How did you teach your horse to do that? Wow! It's such a great feeling to realize that others notice what we are doing. I'm so thankful for my deeper understanding of my horse's point of view and our relationship that continues to grow. Thank you Debbie for your invaluable contribution to the world of horses.

Good information
Written by a professional who came through the Parelli system, this book is succinct and clear for beginners and for people who donโt know what they donโt know. Very good information. As a coach and trainer myself, I can vouch sheโs created a great resource.

Debbie's intuitive attention to the most minute details makes all the difference!
Debbie has an amazing intuitive connection with a passion for helping both human and horse become better partners! She offers such clear and concise instruction on helping the human become a better partner to the horse by explaining how the horse's mind interprets and processes information, how they may be seeing the action we are asking of them (which is often not anything at all like what we think we are asking!), and most importantly how to use our energy to partner with them. I have had not only the opportunity to read and benefit from all of Debbie's teachings but also the privilege of being tutored by her. She has helped both me and my dominant and pushy 17.1HH gelding become more confident with one another while learning Liberty work at the same time! I LOVE how she teaches and how she can see the smallest detail to help me correct my movement, my breath, my energy ... so that my horse then has a clearer picture of what I am asking of him. Just phenomenal! I highly recommend you read her book and then read it again!

Fabulous book for beginners and experienced riders
After twenty five years of teaching, I love to read and study everything I can get my hands on to enhance my understanding of the magical connection between women and horses. This book exceeded my expectations!! I filled a journal with notes to explore further. It gave me many "ah ha" moments and some exercises and concepts to apply with my own riding and certainly for my students. I highly recommend this book as a beautiful gift for a horseloving friend or as a special present to yourself!! Five stars for clarity, new ideas, great anecdotes, and thought provoking ideas that didn't require a new vocabulary to learn before understanding began.

The Natural Horsemanship and Relationship
The book opens up a world of communication with horses. Communicating in their language, I felt, in reading this book is the key to the most important aspect of any Horsemanship, whether man, woman or child. Horses do have a language amongst themselves and it is up to us to learn it if we ever want to have that human equine relationship. Debbie in her book takes you on a journey in learning that language. She writes with an insight, that only one can when they have been there and understands the equine behaviour. Great read

For the serious horse rider or trainer. Definitely for adults.
I had bought this for a younger rider to help her understand her horseโs behavior as she grew in her riding. This book is definitely for more seasoned rider. The content is detailed and well written.

Lovely Book
I really got a lot out of this book and felt that it resonated a lot with me. As a newbie with horses I have been given a horse with some emotional trauma. Not something I was expecting but it's happened so I have to learn. I love my horse so much and this book allows me to learn with him without going too fast, expecting miracles quickly and work on mindfulness techniques. I wish she had more videos on youtube as she has so much to offer.
