But nothing is easy in a Europe stirred by French ambitions. Review: Excellent value for some great stories. - Cornwell is a born storyteller. And Sharpe is a character that you can always root for. Review: Napoleonic war novels - Same idea as WEB Griffins books on men at war only this follows the journey/rise of a lower class man through the British Army. Very readable, enjoyable and basically historically accurate with license as refers to the main character-.

Such superb novels!
Had always loved the TV series with Sean Bean, so getting into these novels was not hard at all. They are beautifully written with fantastic characters and very well researched historical scenarios for Sharpe to fight in. This set is the first ‘in Chronological order’* and explores his rise from Private up to becoming an officer. They won’t match 100% with the TV series, but what books ever do. But everything to love about Sharpe is there. Great novels, can’t wait to get stuck into more.

A great buy !
I watched the TV series years ago. I have recently become interested in the Napoleonic history era. So, time to read the books- book 1 has got me hooked already. A skillful blend of fiction and fact. Very accurate on detail,e.g. how to load a musket etc. Sharpe is a bit like an eighteenth century Jack Reacher ! Great value, quickly delivered and well packaged.
