11/22/2022 - the dogs eventually did learn to drink through the mesh so it is definitely possible for them to figure it out after many tries and over a few months. I think that if we used these daily, it would have been a lot faster. I upgraded this item to 5 stars. It did work as advertised eventually with a steep learning curve for older dogs.Finally something that works well partially anyway...If you're looking for something your dog can drink through, keep searching, this is not it, even though it says it is.Two of my dogs are highly reactive, getting worse as they are getting older (9 and 10 years old) and they displace their aggression toward each other when they cannot get to the dog, cat, plastic bag or leaf that had the audacity of showing up in their field of vision. That means no walking them together, no keeping them in the same room when I am not home, constant supervision when they are together in the yard etc...I had given up on finding a muzzle until their last fight broke my finger and sent their blood flying all over my room, I still don't know what started it, it was 4 AM and everyone should have been asleep.These just seemed more humane and easier to deal with and THEY ARE!!One dog has a very long muzzle so he got the large, the other pointy but shorter muzzle so he got the medium.This is a slip on and buckle behind the ears muzzle made of breathable mesh which is ideal for Florida weather. There is no hard rubber to irritate them, nothing that will hurt if they bang their head and best of all, no matter how hard they try, they can't remove it but let it be known that they got used to it in minutes, just drop a really delicious small treat in the whole and praise them for keeping it on.We went for a ride in the car, one dog trampled the other and what would have normally escalated into a blood bath to the death ended up with no reaction because I think they quickly realized that even growling was pointless. Of course, they got high praise for not getting unruly and we went on our ride.What was surprising is that once we got home, they didn't attempt to have them taken off until they tried to get water and that just doesn't work. There is no way for them to stick their tongue out to get a drink. It might be possible for them to plunge their whole snout into a bowl of water but if they don't do it naturally, I won't be forcing it and this will stay at a personal rating of 4.2 because they cannot drink through it naturally.

Long story short, I recently adopted a 12 yr old dog who likely had never been around cats. The rescue told me he was not reactive to any animals. I quickly saw that was untrue when he tried to bite my cat. I knew I had to make sure my cats were safe. I still have my dog separated while we get him used to everyone and his new home. He has my whole family room which is gated. I was always against muzzles but knew this was the best thing I could do to ensure everyone’s safety. Then my muzzle addiction came, I can’t even tell you how many muzzles I bought and returned. I’m sure the woman at Whole Foods thought I was nuts! I even spent over $100 to have a leather cage muzzle made. That one is nice but when he rests his head it goes into his eyes which I don’t like. So after about 10 muzzles, I stumbled onto this one. I liked that the nose was open but had the strap over the top of the nose to prevent him from opening his mouth wide enough to bite. And the best..he doesn’t mind me putting it on him! It’s as easy as putting his harness on. Does he like it, absolutely NOT, but he doesn’t throw a big fit except for if he has it on outside and then he paws at it. He actually did get it off too but I think it had loosened up from his laying down as you see in the photo. He’s fine with it in the house and I feel much safer knowing he can’t bite my cats while we all get acclimated. Hoping he gives up the desire to bite and learns to coexist, if not, he will always wear this around them and I’m ok with it because it’s comfy for him.

I needed this item so badly for my fur baby. She tries to eat everything when we walk. My vet told me about this type of muzzle. I ordered it, and it came quickly, but it was way too big. I had to return it, but plan on reordering a smaller size. The smaller muzzle arrived. It fits perfectly. It absolutely stops Bella from eating EVERYTHING she finds when we walk. This is a must for us!

I have a 10lb maltipoo puppy who would eat everything and anything during our walks. So i decided to get this mask... does it work? Yes. It prevents him from opening his mouth to the point he cant technically grab onto anything. The mask is easily adjustable to fit the size of a very small dogs head. I can see he can still stick out his tongue a little bit so its not so tight where its cruel and the front opening gives his nose space so it's not terrible. Durability is meh, maybe a month in and this thing is showing signs of heavy wear, might need to always have a back up. The mesh itself is sturdy but the nature of the product to a certain extent doesn't allow it to last very long. My dog is constantly smelling the concrete side walk and scraping the mask during walks so the front is showing wear, understandable. The $12.99 price is heavy however for the size of this thing and the fact i may need to constantly replace it. It's genius lol

We have a cattle hound with a strong herding instinct. He will nip if he confuses the behavior of a person and feels they are doing something unsafe. It’s become a problem as he has gotten older for some odd reason. We used this on vacation in a really crowded space. It took him a day to get used to it. Not only is he unable to nip it curbs his instinct to do so. It has only been 4 days but I am very happy with it. He can drink water and I can sneak treats into it. Overall very happy.

I have a 10 mo old Jack Russell who eats crap on the street when out for walks. He really needed help to curb that desire so I ordered this mesh muzzle. It works great and he doesn’t look like Hannibal Lecter! It’s light and soft. He doesn’t mind it too much once he got used to it. I would NOT recommend this for long periods of time. It’s a perfect training tool for short walks around the block to teach him not to eat garbage. When we go on long rigorous walks he does NOT wear a muzzle of any kind. He is wearing a Small.

Dopo quattro tentativi, ho trovato questa museruola che per l’uso che faccio è semplicemente perfetta! Praticamente ci serve soltanto per girare dentro la palazzina e poi, per averla a portata di mano com’è obbligo di legge. Non ci è mai capitato di doverla mettere al di fuori della palazzina, ma si capiterà questa necessità devo dire che è facilissima da mettere, pieghevole e leggera da portare in tasca. Avevo già fatto bem due settimane di adattamento (consiglio vivamente di non avere fretta) con delle museruole rigide, allora adattare a questa è stato facilissimo, è bastato un giorno e due fette di mortadella!Anche quando non c’è nessuno in giro per la palazzina, che sono sicura di esserci solo noi, la metto lo stesso. Ho fatto di questo in rituale, una routine. La cosa peggiore per un cane è non abituarlo e mettere la museruola all’improvviso quando serve. Diventa così un instrumento di tortura. Se la porta però tutti i giorni, per poco tempo, come ad esempio nel mio caso che la associata a qualcosa di piacevole che è l’ora della passeggiata, la porta volentieri. Provateci!
