this is for my 96 year old GM who can't see too well - is the plate hot to the touch if she's feeling about on the table?

The plate is just the charging dock, so it doesn’t get hot. The heating element is actually in the base of the cup itself, and only touches the liquid inside the cup. So the plate is completely safe to touch. The heat is only inside of the cup.

I have just taken delivery of two both unopened. will they have a us plugs? if so i will have to return them. i need ones with uk plugs

Mine has just arrived and has a US style plug / power unit. It does state 110 to 220 volt so hopefully just a standard US to UK travel adaptor plug will suffice
