Still working well in 2026.

Excellent Motherboard
Easy to install, booted straight up without issues, and is extremely fast for gaming. These X470 motherboards are far more reliable than the 500-series motherboards being released right now, since most of those were manufactured during the pandemic and are severely lacking adequate QC and testing. The X470's, on the other hand, were mainly manufactured in 2018/2019, are far more reliable, and are only a small step backwards from the newer 500 series. Definitely worth the money.

So far so good, and impressed but read the rest to understand why
I run a pc shop and back when the first X470's first got on the market I had built what I would consider a mid-grade system for my workshop mainly to test hard drives and usb and pcie devices with a prime x470 pro from a different maker along with a 1700X and a 250gb nvme and 16gb of ram. A year-ish later the board up and died for no reason, one day it just didn't post and after checking and taking some board readings the southbridge chip had died. When this happened the other brands I usually use were not available in anything but refurbs and since I wasn't building this to be a hardcore machine I wanted something similar as all the other parts in the system were dialed in for a pcie 3.0, X470 machine and this one had great reviews and was one of the only "new" X470s available at that point that was not a refurb or priced out of range for what I was going to use it for so I bought this one to replace the other bad board. Now back when MSI first came on the market in 2005-6-ish I had tried a few of their boards on some builds and had issues with every one of them so I stopped using them and never looked back. Since then I have serviced some of their newer laptops and other systems and they have really stepped up their game and have come a long ways since the early years so I decided to give it a try as it was better than the other optional brands available and priced right. Keep in mind I use this machine to test customers devices on the workbench so it's not in a typical pc case and has dozens of different devices plugged in and connected to it daily so this is not a normal life for any pc but here we are a year and a half later and its still running like new and handles everything I throw at it in windows or linux. I am not crazy about how they did the bios in these but they are targeting people that do not know anything about bios settings which makes sense and the built in secure erase feature is a plus for me since I use this to secure erase other drives constantly. Lately MSI has some of the best made machines around and this one takes a beating and it has done extremely well. Everyone gets a lemon every now and then and that (A) company is still my first choice depending on what a system is going to be used for but MSI is definitely back on my go-to list again. Solid, stable and dependable and fast and Ive missed more days of work than this board has, and in this business that's all you can ask for from a machine that takes nothing but abuse and the biggest thing, occasionally I will be testing devices that may be bad, some could even damage this system I test them on. The fault system in this has always protected it from the occasional fried devices I have connected to it and that's HUGE considering its had hundreds of graphics cards, soundcards and storage drives, motor, ssd, flash and sd devices connected to it. And if you wondered even on the 1700x, I've tried it on several games when testing graphics cards to see if they were ok and its done everything the cpu and ram is capable of doing. Hits every benchmark right where it should be. At this point its very late in the times for an X470 board and now most of what I build are PCIE 4.0 systems but when the new socket that replaces the AM4 comes out in 2022 I will be taking a hard look at MSI for my personal AMD machine at home. This one has been amazing.

Lots of PCI Express
I'm using this with a Ryzen 2600, 64GB GSkill DDR 2300, x16 Geforce 1070, x4 Adaptec raid, x4 Mellanox 10gbit, and x1 Intel dual 1gbit in a home server. Works great. The GPU runs at x8 of course, but having the extra PCI-e 3.0 for the Mellanox card is nice. Board layout is good, had no problem with assembly.I did not connect the additional 4 pin CPU power port. My PSU does not have this cable, and my CPU certainly doesn't need the extra power.I previously had this CPU and RAM in a B450 motherboard from another manufacturer, which had issues POSTing with the full 64GB installed -- sometimes it would require several tries to POST. This X470 is not only rock solid with the RAM, but it doesn't have any issue negotiating all those PCI-e cards either. Thanks MSI!

Pissed off daily. Works great.
I got a lot of stuff hooked up. The only thing that I couldn't get to work was the parallel port. Might be my printer but works fine for day remote desktop, night gaming and overnight mining. Have a mild overclock and no stability issues. Running 2 mismatch grafics cards with no issues with mining or as a plex server. Would have been nice to have on board wifi. One of the m.2 slots works fine though. Didn't have to call support. Can't comment on that. Don't like how I have to flash the bios, so I'm not doing it. Would rather an Exe in windows, but the only problem I have. Also came brand new from Amazon warehouse for some reason. Had to buy a coa.

Works great with Ryzen 7 3700X and G Skill 16 GB 3.200 RAM
Very satisfied as always with MSI.The only bad thing but it's not MSI's fault is that the 4 holes and bracket of this AM4 board are different than the AM3 boards so my liquid cooling system cannot work with this board. This was a stupid AMD decision for changing the board design. It has no sense and no reason.Update March 9th 2023Do not install its Dragon Center app. Will crash or freeze your PC. If you are using an AMD graphic card you'll have plenty functions with the Adrenaline software.

Awesome gaming mobo for the money!
Upgraded my daughter's outdated AMD A-series desktop. Bought this motherboard to go with some DDR4-3200Mhz and a Ryzen 5 3600. Easy setup into her old ATX case. She already had a GTX 1060ti which is plenty for what she does. ( It is also a MSI) Wired it up and it posted right away. Only thing I had to do was go into the bios and change the clock frequency for the RAM because it was showing up at 2400mhz instead of 3200Mhz. After a reboot, windows did it's thing and she was back on. All kinds of overclocking settings available.Best bang for your buck.

Perfrorms well - no issues.
This product is probably at run-out at time of review, but it works fine for my 3rd Gen Ryzen.I'd have no problems with buying again. The only issue that I may have is that the RGB is not ARGB so it doesn't communicate with my case. Everything else is working fine.

Great!
Really happy with this purchase. After having gotten a defective MOBO from a different brand I can't tell you how nice it is to have your computer work properly. It has most of the headers you'll need. (No internal 3.2 type C). Will definitely go MSI for my next upgrade at some point down the line. However you might want to buy an x570 board at this point in time for the next gen ryzen comparability if you do plan on upgrading when that comes out.

Works with Ryzen 3900X
No issues with Ryzen 3900X. Boots up nicely without any Bios update.
