The A13 Mk. I was the first British Cruiser tank to use the Christie suspension system and set the style for all other Cruisers built in World War II. Together with the improved Mk. II and Mk. IIA it played an important part in the battles in France in 1940 and North Africa in 1941. This book covers its development, production and service, filling a long-neglected gap in the history of British armored vehicles. It includes over 140 period black and white photos from archives and private collections, many never before published, 7pp 1/35th scale plans, 3 pp technical drawings and sketches, and 27 profusely researched full-color plates. Its author has researched British AFVs for 40 years and has contributed many articles to professional military and modeling magazines. Review: Excellent read indeed Must have very detialed - Love the detail narrative and great photos and drawing an armor modeler great resource guide on British A13 Cruiser tank. Also buy the same author book on British A9/10 Cruiser tanks Review: Outstanding Coverage of a Pioneer Series of Cruiser Tanks - British Cruiser Tank A13 Mk.I and Mk.II is beyond question the finest work on this series of vehicles ever published. As an author on armour myself and a fervent reader on the topic I can only say that this book sets the standard on coverage. There are over 140 photos, most unpublished and all described in detail. There are seven 1/35 scale drawings of the various marks, all exact and precise. There are also 27 full colour plates illustrating vehicles from the BEF in France in 1940 at the vehicle debut through use in Britain to the end of operational use in North Africa. There are also many interesting photos of these vehicles in German use both in France, Germany and Russia. All in all a book worth every penny it costs.

Excellent photo survey
Peter Brown is one of the top authors on the subject of British tank development in World War II, and this book is the culmination of a series of articles written by him on the Cruiser tanks. Besides providing a detailed history of these tanks in 1939-41, the book offers an exceptional photographic survey that includes both the more familiar Imperial War Museum and Tank Museum official photos, along with a wide selection of previously unpublished photos. The book has high production values with excellent photo reproduction and first rate color artwork. A very useful book for tank modelers and tank historians!

British Cruiser Tank A13 Mk.I & Mk.II

... history of armoured vehicles or war gaming this volume pretty much ticks all the boxes with sections on development ...
Early WW2 British armour is a bit of a niche subject but whether you are interested in WW2 history or the history of armoured vehicles or war gaming this volume pretty much ticks all the boxes with sections on development operational history and organisation supported by scale plans, original photos and colour plates. (wrote the same for the A9 & A10 book in the same series, they are both excellent)
