Delicious and authentic!
My favorite for many years--both while I lived in Indonesia (where I was born and raised) and now that I live in the USA. It is a fast, simple way to replicate the delicious taste of rendang without the hours of work normally involved. Many of the ingredients to make authentic rendang are not available here, so this is the perfect way to satisfy my craving for Indo food when I can't go home to Indo and buy some from my local Padang restaurant! Shipping was quick, and the price is on point.

very good, easy, not too hot
I can't believe how good this is...even better than when I make rendang from scratch. I go heavy on the spice/coconut milk to meat ratio, and it is deliciously spicy without being too hot. I make it in the crock pot, but last time it was taking too long, so I finished it in the instant pot, and even though the coconut oil initially separated, I was able to get it to blend into a perfect sauce with tender meat. Next time, I'm going to try cooking it from the start in the instant pot, if it works then WOW these are going to save me so much time and work. I hope you found my review helpful!

Does the job when you're away from home
Made rendang with this mix and I'll say it does the job. It doesn't taste as good as rendang from a Padangnese restaurant in Indonesia obviously but it does save the hassle of having to scour for and prep the ingredients to make rendang at home. Definitely add lemongrass stalks if you have them, and a good dose of coconut milk is a must. Decent. Far easier than truly making rendang from scratch if you don't have any Indonesian restaurants near you.

Easy to prepare an authentic dish
I love this flavor and this sauce pack made it super easy to whip up a beef rendang dish that tasted like it was straight out of Malaysia. I pressure cooked the beef in my instant pot then added the sauce and a can of coconut milk to the pot and voila… beef rendang

Good but Sweet
Good but Sweet. Not the traditional Rendang flavor but its still good. Rendang is suppose to be spicy.

Good for Sweeter Palates
I made beef rendang before. I decided to shortcut the process by getting this paste. As much as it tatset good, it fits and caters to most Western palates since it is very sweet. If you’re missing the beef rendang with hint of sweetness and rich in spices this is not the one to use. However, for the experienced cook, one may adjust the taste with additional add on of ingredients to match the flavor profile. This would be good for last minute preparation or those with a sweeter palate.
