Bought this after using Buck knives for years. Just wanted to try something new (really like my buck knives btw). Great price point, boxed nicely and comes with a nice sheath. Impressive sharpness out of box. I field dressed and skinned a whitetail this week. Worked very well, remained sharp and blade design allowed for accurate, smooth and safe cuts. Had no problems with smooth handle- I’m usually wearing gloves and not using a ton of force. Great design and price. Excellent field knife or an extra to have in the backpack. Would buy again. Or maybe even for my friends and family.

It is too early to give a complete rating so I will likely update this in a few months after some heavy use but here are the first impressions. Knife is beautiful in appearance and razor sharp. The full tang design gives the impression that it can take some abuse. The feel of the knife is comfortable and removing it from the sheath and indexing it is intuitive. Sheath is good quality leather and the design will keep the handle from getting caught as you move through brush.

Very nice knife for hunting fishing, camping or just to wear it’s a very attractive knife and extremely sharp it’s size is perfect for most uses but not so big it uncomfortable. I think this is spyderco’s best bang for the buck. You get a very durable sharp knife and a sheath.

I’ve been eyeballing this knife for years now, Spyderco is a fantastic company that puts out a quality knife regardless of factory location. I knocked this down to 4 stars due to mine not being as sharp as the bar set by previous Spyderco knives in the same steel (spyderco’s china factory puts out decent 8cr steel). I needed to hone the edge for a few minutes to bring out that razor like quality I’m use to from Spyderco. That being said the rest of the package was spectacular. I’m a fan of this blade shape, and the g-10 scales are fit nice and flush, the knife is a much higher quality than the price would suggest and the sheath is good as well. I guess what you get in overall package they save on time spent refining the edge (or I just got one that didn’t get enough love)? To me this is a nice knife that I’m not afraid to use or resharpen. Not sure this is the edc crowd favorite but it is an awesome outdoors knife that’s thin enough to be a beast at food prep or a fish and game knife, while being thick enough to handle some light wood work. Excellent affordable companion/belt knife with a high end feel that offers a wide range of practical utility. I would definitely jump on purchasing this if offered in VG10 or BD1N for a higher price point. 8cr may turn some people away but 8cr is a great everyday steel when you actually get 8cr (Spyderco can not legally call it 8cr13mov unless it is that, then benefit of buying from a reputable manufacturer). I would buy this knife again and I would recommend to a friend!!!

I have this knife and bought it for my friend for his birthday since I liked it so much. This knife fits well in the hand and is super thin which makes it especially great for food prep. I use this as my travel kitchen knife since I'm on the road for 6 months out of the year and hotel knives are crap. This processes onions, cuts chicken, slices through 5 slabs of thick cut bacon with ease. The leather sheath is ok. The handle adds flair and looks great and stays in the hand even when wet. The stainless is great and requires minimal cleaning. My blade is still sharp after 2 months of use. The price point is great for the quality of this knife. If you are on the fence, buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing knife for the money. You're not going to get a better knife for this amount of money. Not a fan of the sheath. But there are people that are making kydex for it. I will be dropping the tip down just a little bit. That's just me. Not as much of a fan of the whole upswept blade it's not that much it's just a little tiny bit but just not a fan. That is the only complaint I have The knife is great. Can't beat it for the money only thing out there that even gives it close to a run is well just a mora. Okay, got like my Morris better but it's a Spyderco it's made well good materials great looking handle, handles absolutely gorgeous. I bought two of them, be probably giving one of them away. Okay one more thing, it came really nice and sharp, couple minutes on some sandpaper and a little time on the strap and it is a razor blade. spend the money You're not going to get a Spyderco this nice for that much last time I did it was the tenacious back when they were going for 30 bucks or the resilience for 40 bucks. In short damn fine night for the money.

I'm really pleased with the overall quality/style of this knife. It came with a nice edge out of the box, not really razor, razor sharp but the knife would shave hair off my arm and slice thru a piece of paper. I'll clamp it on my KME and get the edge polished up without having to spend a lot of time working on it. The sheath seems ok, but I would rather it have been a polymer sheath even if the cost was a little more. IMO, for $51.45, I think it's a deal. It will definitely be used for slicing my steaks at the dinner table along with a lot of other uses. Now the down side - The knife didn't look used, but the box had been opened. On the blade they were fingerprints so it had be handled. Was it a return, IMO it may have been, someone had definitely handled the knife.

Good price, comes with a nice sheath and razor sharp a nice sized skinning knife for sure.
