What's the difference between this model and the wl model that's $150 more?  i can find no info on yamaha website on what wl mean, etc; thanks!

The difference is the $150 more wireless version has a rechargeable battery so you can run the THR-II without a power cable for a few hours (maybe up to 8 on a good day I believe).
Additionally you can buy the Line 6 G10 Relay bug. The THR-II Wireless version for $150 has part of this system built in. So you just need the bug that plugs into your guitar. There is no additional part needed to plug into the THR-II Wireless as it's built into the $150 more wireless version since Line 6 and Yamaha are now sort of the same company. Also the bug can be charged by plugging it into the THR-II wireless when not in use.

The $299 non-wireless version does not have the built in battery for use without connection to power, and does not have the Line 6 Relay built into it's input.

Line 6 does sell a G10 Wireless system with the bug + the adapter the plugs into an amp/pedal board. Those are around $150-$250 for the G10/G10S depending on when/where you buy it from as sometimes they are on sale for $30-$50 off.

Question 2

Do you need to use line 6 transmitter, or can you use any bluetooth transmitter?

The previous answer saying it is only works with Line 6 transmitters is partially incorrect. You can use any transmitter but you will need a full pair (transmitter and receiver) bypassing one that's built-in. I've been using wireless system Boss WL-20 with no issues and I guess the other similar system will work just fine. I already had Boos wireless and that was exact reason I decided to go with cheaper THR-10II version because I could add my own wireless capabilities and I did not need the built-in battery for autonomous functions.

Would this do well as an acoustic amp, as well as an electric?
