SKB 3I-4214-5B-E iSeries 42 x 14 x 5 Inches Mil-Std Waterproof Case Empty with Wheels

I went on a hunting trip with a bunch of active duty and veterans. We were all flying into the west texas city. In this case I took my scoped M4 clone, a second .50 cal upper (Beowulf), a pistol, a knife and 100 rounds of ammo. The trick is to cut out an outline for each item in the middle layer of foam and all is good. My case was the talk of the group because it was so reasonably priced but matched up to all of the pelican issued cases the rest of the team had. The case is hearty, durable and easy to handle. It took lots of travel abuse at the airports and in the field with no visible indicators and it sat out in the rain and mud in the field keeping everything safe and dry. There is one mod I recommend, I did it to mine. There is a handle at both ends of the case. The handle on the end with the wheels gets caught up on the ground and prevents it from rolling easily. I punched the pins out of that handle and threw it away. There is a handle at the other end for pulling on the wheels and a handle in the middle for carrying.

This is a GREAT case. Perfect construction, extremely tough and durable, excellent quality foam. Pelican? Don't waste your money on a name. This case is more than worth the price. I've trusted mine to safely transport $5K+ in rifles/ optics, and have never had an issue, nor do I have a complaint.

I purchased this case to protect my musical instrument speaker when I tour on the road. It includes a series of foam inserts so you can make custom fit for the item you plan on using it for. I purchased the SKB TSA-approved latches with keys so the case can be locked before checking it as baggage, but TSA has the master keys should they need to inspect the contents. I highly recommend this case for all of the features such as the wheels, pull handle and durable design.

Seriously well made shipping box. I need to carry 60 pounds of metal samples and this bad boy is rugged and gets the job done. It is "right sized" to put in the car to haul to the shipping location or most of the way in the trunk of my Camaro.

exactly as advertised. The foam was easy to custom fit to whatever your contents required. A bit on the spendy side, but sometimes you need to spend more to get this kind of quality.

I've used these cases in the past. They're great. But quality control must be slipping. There was no foam on the top lid of this case.

Overall, I like the case because its built like a tank and will withstand just about anything you can throw at it. It securely holds my firearms with no problems and I'm sure it will outlast me. I think the overall problem with SKB is the ability to purchase replacement foam unlike it's Pelican competitor. Wasn't an issue for me at the time of the purchase but you get one chance to cut your foam right forget about changing your mind which is the reason I gave it 4 stars. So keep this in mind if your thinking about going with this one. Either way I think its a darn good case for the money and I'm pleased with it.

Well made case (not surprising -- it IS SKB), love the trigger latches. Fits my custom-cutout foam (bought elsewhere) like a glove. Case has nice heft, indicative of the quality and durability; however, it is not overly heavy and the inclusion of three handles + wheels is really nice. The case is very well balanced when open -- the lid props itself at 90 deg and, even when empty, the bottom stays flat on the ground without tipping back at all. Steel reinforcements for padlock holes are a nice touch. Looks like this case will provide several years of protection for the items within, and I'm very glad to have purchased it -- 10 out of 10, on all counts.

ein verdammt schweres Teil. Der Koffer ist sehr hochwertig verarbeitet. Der Deckel schließt sauber und bündig und durch die 3 Schlösser wird er sicher auf dem Kofferboden festgezurrt. Der mittlere Riegel bietet eine Schlossdurchführung. Hier kann problemlos ein TSA Schloss angebracht werden. Die Rollen laufen leicht und der Ausziehgriff lässt sich wunderbar in seiner Führung bewegen. Am Material selbst gibt es nichts zu meckern. Sehr dick und stabil und das Druckausgleichventil sollte seinen Dienst sehr gut verrichten. Leider musste ich den Koffer zurückschicken, da er für meinen Einsatzzweck doch eher ungeeignet war, da er beladen mit Fotostativen dann doch sehr schwer und sehr unhandlich wird. Dennoch ein Produkt, welches die 5 Sterne auf jeden Fall verdient.
