I already own a UV light similar to the one that comes with the kit. Would the refill by itself be sufficient or are there other required components?

Yes it will work. I do this same way. I use a penlight UV light bought purposefully for this. I find it cures the glue faster & in a larger volume in my modeling projects.

What is the estimated shelf life of the liquid, unopened, in desk drawer, no extreme temperatures?

According to the inventors, there is no limit on shelf life. Saying that, I would not expose it to extreme temperatures...just in your office, kitchen, craft room, etc.

will this bond to polycarbonate?

This product bonds to anything I have used. I don't see any reason why it would not bond to a poly carbonate. Keep in mind that you cant use this substance outside. UV light from the sun will harden it as soon as it comes out of the bottle; i found out the hard way. Works great indoors. works fantastic on anything clear like glass or plastic since you can fill a crack and the UV light penetrates thru to harden the liquid. Hardens just as the advertisements say.

How many grams of liquid in the Starter Kit? And in the refill?

It states its 4 grams. i didn't measure or weigh it.
