FANTASTIC!
This is the best thing since sliced bread! I wish I have known about these 20 years ago! I LOVE this product, the sensor works down my 800 foot driveway, with tree obstruction. Easy to install, and the batteries last forever! Never had one problem with this product! Only thing is the "doorbell" would have liked to be able to adjust volume and sound.

Ignore the moving wildlife!
This is the perfect driveway alarm if you have any wildlife around. The alarm works flawlessly, detecting motor vehicles while ignoring motion. We have several deer, turkeys, bear, and other assorted wildlife that wonder around our property at all hours, so a motion alarm would be going off all night. We tried a cheaper version, which worked only for a few months before quitting on us. If you live in an area with wildlife, this is the only driveway alarm to get.

Easy to Set Up and Works Great
I had a Dakota alarm at the top of my driveway. It is a motion sensor, so it did pick up the Racoon, Turkeys, Deer, and an occasional Bear. I installed this alarm 100 yards down the driveway. It will only pick up moving vehicles as it is a magnetic sensor. It was very easy to set up with the receiver unit I already owned. Noteworthy was the email support and advice I had from Dakota. Using the Dakota web page, I emailed several questions and had response within minutes. So far, I am delighted with the unit.

Very reliable
Installed easy and has great range. My only problem was when I had the sensitivity set to high. I had it installed about 800 feet from any road traffic and thought I could crank up the sensitivity so even a lawn mower on the other side of drive would set it off, it did. Not sure why but a bad rain storm with lightning caused it to give lots of false alerts. Cranked back the sensitivity a little and no more false alerts so far and still plenty sensitive even for the lawn mower if not hugging the far side. Transmitter is attached to a tree about 300 feet from house through a woods. I have two receivers, one in Living room pretty much at the same level as transmitter and one on top of the basement wall almost below ground level and it activates both. Great alarm, already recommended to a friend with a long drive that was having problems with a cheaper unit and he is also very happy.

Works great!
We've had one for a year now on our 400' driveway and it works just right every time. No false alarms from all the animals or people. We had tried a similar and cheaper model from The Home Depot but it worked right only intermittently so back it went. If I were to offer a criticism, the fewest number of tones you can request at set-up is four (ding dong, ding dong) when one or at most two, should be included in their lengthy list of sounds. Spend the extra money this one costs, grab a grub-hoe or a spade and install it.

Excellent Unit - no false alarms, great range (alert sounds meh)
My driveway is basically a wildlife transit corridor - the trail cam has picked up deer, bob cat, turkeys, coyotes, and some things I couldn't identify. Which means those inexpensive IR units go off at all hours of the day and night. So I bought this magnetic type to see if it would reliably alert without false alarms. It does. It triggers on everything from small cars to trucks without fail. Pros: No false alarms, exceptional transmitter range, ability to trigger external devices. Cons: Alert sound is tinny, and the selection of sounds isn't very good. Since the unit has the ability to trigger external devices, I can wire it up to trigger the house doorbell unit, and get a much better alert sound. Also, a warning. The first time you set the unit up, it comes up at FULL volume and there is no way to turn the volume down until you have programmed it. This isn't very nice, since you are holding the unit in your hand near your ears! Wrap it in a towel to muffle the sound during initial setup. Now to add the mailbox alert module!

Worth every penny for Safety and Security
Easy to install and set up. Great range and no “false” alarms going off. Great radius, for our location if anyone tries to swing wide off the driveway it still picks up the vehicle and side-by-sides. Very easily hidden, so it won’t disappear…. Worth every penny for the safety and security!!

It works great when it works
It only lasted 2 years. It stared ringing when ever it wanted to with out a vehicle around. Ordered new one installed it and back to normal.
