Yes, it is not hard rock solid but definitely sturdy enough.

can i add a universal pistol holder with velcro in center compartment?

I imagine you can depending on the pistol holder. The velco is all on the sides.

Zipper Quality? Are the zippers on this range bag built to last or do they seem flimsy? Thanks.

Zippers seem pretty sturdy. I've had the bag for a month, moderate use and the zippers seem to be holding up just fine. I usually carry one pistol, four loaded mags, safety gear, couple of water bottles and about 100 rounds of ammo each trip to the range and everything (compartments, handle and zippers) are working fine. The only thing I have not used is the shoulder strap.
