Bowfell Bluetooth Sound Bar for TV, 50W 2.0 Stereo Soundbar

Ok, first things first - if you are expecting a home cinema system kind of sound, this is NOT for you!I had to get that off my chest first as I've read so many reviews from people who seem to be expecting miracles! It's a small sound bar and it's 50w output - by comparison, my old 5.1 surround sound system was 600w! And that was nowhere near as powerful as you could get!Right, now that's all out of the way, I can review it properly. I bought this to go with a 40" skinny Blaupunkt TV in my bedroom. As with all skinny TVs, the inbuilt speakers were rubbish. I haven't checked, but they are probably between 5-10w output. This is fairly standard for most TVs these days. The truth is, the TV manufacturers EXPECT you to add on a sound bar/home cinema system, so they don't really care too much what speakers are built in. That's just a fact these days, sad, but true.On my other bedroom TV (23"), I had a 10w computer sound bar and that did the job great! But for this TV, I wanted a bit more 'oomph' so we could watch movies and get a more immersive experience. I read lots of reviews and checked the specs and decided to give this one a go, and I'm not remotely disappointed!I can't stress enough, keep in mind it is a SMALL sound bar! You aren't going to get earth shattering sound that shakes the walls! But for what it's meant to be, it does a brilliant job! My TV doesn't have an optical socket, so I just connected it via the headphone jack which works fine. I set the sound bar volume quite high, then use the TV remote to control the volume that comes out of it which works really well.You do need to turn the sound bar on with its own remote control, it doesn't automatically come on with the TV (not with mine anyway) but this is no issue for me. I have to do the same on my downstairs sound bar which is a different brand and is connected via optical cable, so I'm used to it.But anyway, the sound from it is great! Even at low volumes, it really is a vast improvement on the built in speakers, and at louder volumes it's perfect for movies when you want a bit more BOOM!! I have it stood behind the TV (I don't like them in front, just my personal preference) and it still sounds fab! I genuinely couldn't be happier with it!In a larger room, you would probably want something a bit more beefy if you like stuff REALLY loud, our downstairs sound bar is 80w with a separate subwoofer, but for smaller rooms and bedrooms, this is spot on!Like I said, don't expect miracles! If you want a great improvement on the general sound of your TV, go for it! If you want to feel like you're in the cinema, buy something bigger and more powerful! This does the job it's supposed to do at a great price. Five stars from me!

I bought a new Bedroom 32inch TV that needed a sound bar as I'm hearing impaired and the TV sound is not adequate for me and I dislike subtitles. My previous 24inch TV had a headphone connection which I connected my Edifier 2.1 system which was very good. My new TV didn't have this option so after some research I settled on this Majority Bowfell soundbar.To be honest I wasn't impressed with the sound quality at first but I think it's because my hearing aids had become used to my previous set up. I set up using Optical connection and also Bluetooth. I was under the impression from description that this soundbar has equaliser function but it's actually preset options of Flat, Jazz or Rock. Despite this though I've decided to keep it as I have found the sound quality very good and most importantly clear. Due to wearing hearing aids external sound systems do take time for me to adjust too. So wether you are hearing aid wearer or not I'd say this soundbar is very good, I have it stood behind my TV which doesn't seem to affect it's effectiveness. It's pretty powerful and the upper volume is far too loud, but impressive as didnt distort when I experimented.I'm glad I preserved with this and would recommend for use with a smaller TV or computer etc. don't think it would be adequate for a larger TV though.

What a wonderful product. I purchased this soundbar to replace my old one and it has been wonderful. It is very easy to set up. The Bluetooth connected very quickly and the sound was very clear. Keep up the good work.

Just received my Bowfell soundbar this morning, hats off to Amazon Prime for getting it to me in 12 hours.Setup was simple, I'm using it i'm my bedroom to improve the TV sound quality of my 32" Toshiba flatscreen which as standard is pretty thin sounding with no bass. I'm also using it for music from my iMac via optical digital.For the size and price I think the sound quality is excellent and although at a lower level it produces a surprisingly decent amount of bass, midrange and HF are more than acceptable.There are some minor caveats though, first there is no consistency of volume inasmuch as if you switch between different inputs the volume levels are vastly different so it pays to have the remote to hand if it's too loud. Also the remote appears to share frequencies with my TV remote and if you adjust the volume on the soundbar it will switch on the TV, so I've had to resort to putting something in front of the remote sensor on the TV to avoid it happening.I also noticed when playing back via optical from my iMac if I'm playing a CD with gapless playback such as Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd where the tracks blend the music is muted briefly and then takes a few seconds to ramp back up to the proper volume, I could get round this by using the iMacs headphones output into the aux input on the soundbar but I want to use that for the TV sound. Streaming the same album from Amazon Music via Bluetooth also gets rid of the issue, the Bluetooth sound quality is also very good and doesn't appear to lose any quality compared to the other inputs. One feature that it doesn't have which I would have liked is for it to power down when there hasn't been an input signal for a while, very useful as I listen to music before going to sleep.Overall for the £37 that I paid for it I would have to give the Majority Bowfell soundbar a 5* rating.Edit: On checking a little deeper into the instruction manual it appears the Bowfell does have an auto powering down feature although unlike some other audio equipment I own which powers down in about 20 minutes with no input signal, the Bowfell takes 3 hours to power down which is a little excessive but better than staying powered up..

So... My 20 yr old TV is fine but the sound has been buzzing occasionally when certain frequencies occur and generally we're having to put subtitles on more often to understand what people are mumbling. So I wanted a simple solution for better sound and so tried this speaker.It was very easy to setup, and build quality seems good. The sound is reasonable quality, but is very mono sounding. So after a few days of use I have decided that the sound is clearer than my TV's sound, but perhaps not very exciting to the ear.Only real problem is that I bought a fibre optic cable to connect to my BT TV box. It works fine on all the freeview channels but when watching netflix or prime the optical output is just a squeal of noise. This is of course a problem with the BT box, and I could find no settings I could adjust. The fix was to use the line-out cable (which comes in the box) from the TV into the line-in connection. This now works whatever we're watching and also has the advantage of the volume control is via the BT or TV remote (and not the speakers remote as when using the digital audio input). You still have to turn the speaker on and off with its remote - which isn't a problem for me.So.. if you have BT TV box, and watch netflix/prime, then don't bother to purchase an optical audio cable since it doesn't work, and I couldn't detect any difference between listening via the optical cable or the line in cable on freeview channels.

This speaker is not 2.1, it does not have a bass speaker and even carries a note on the top of it letting you know to switch the output of your device to 2 Channel PCM if you hear a message or buzzing from the speaker. Do not expect amazing sound from this speaker, those who have reviewed it saying that the quality is incredible obviously haven't listened to anything other than tinny TV speakers and a 1950's portable radio. If you are looking for an upgrade to your TV speakers then this is going to be hit and miss. If you have a little 19" TV then this may very well be an improvement but if you are buying this for your 55" then I would recommend that you spend a little more. For example, portable JBL or Anker Bluetooth speakers boast far superior sound to this speaker in a similar form factor. The bluetooth is also poor if you want to watch videos as the sync is noticably off, however, this will not be a problem if you are streaming music to it from your phone for exampleThat said, if you are looking for a small speaker which you do not need to charge or simply need some sound then this is actually a good little speaker, it's not tinny by any means and has good clarity. I have bought it because although I usually use a headset with my PC, I am sometimes in my office and want to take my headset off. It is compact and takes up little desk space, comes with a 3 year warranty (once registered with Majority) and feels like a good quality speaker as it has a little weight to it.To conclude, if you simply want some sound from a device in a small space then this could be for you, if you want some real punch to your sound and an improvement on the built in speakers on your TV then I'd recommend looking elsewhere. At very little extra cost The Majority Snowdon II looks to be a better budget option for your TV.Pros:InexpensiveGood quality build and 3 year warrantySmall form factorCons:Poor Bluetooth for playing movies/Youtube etcPoor bass

I have had this Soundbar now for a week before leaving this review but I must point out that I only use this Soundbar as a sleeping aid.This Soundbar sits on a purpose purchased shelf the length of my headrest, my headrest being metal which enables me to safely attach a purpose sized shelf to my bed headrest the outerside but the shelf & Soundbar are the right sizes to give me that Gorgeous night time sleep musical aid.This Majority Bowfell compact 2.1 Soundbar maybe small but for my ears and for what I use it for is brilliant. I love the sound quality so much, I am already considering the much longer Soundbar. If this small Majority soundbar sounds this good, how Fantastic is the bigger longer version gonna sound being it will be 20cm longer which will give that more spacious 3d effectiveness sound.Being surrounded by night chill music from Amazon's own Prime music app just adds to my night sleeping and that I need. Sorry but Amazon's Prime music app does need a mention because that app holds some serious chilled sleeping music and I already have an enormous chill playlist.My Personal opinion is just that, my perspective of this great Small but mighty Soundbar.The Bass has great range at low volumeThe mid range is a little to highBut the top is just about right.Put the 3 together and You have a fantastic sounding Soundbar.My Only gripe is the Voice that informs You what mode your in. Why oh why these Soundbar companies input them into these soundbars I have no idea. They're loud and when your in bed starting to slip away, You jump out your skin as the Voice informs you Bluetooth has lost its connection.What is the point of these information voices? At least give us the option to switch it on or off.Now I use the auxiliary connection to connect my phone but when I am not using the music app, there's a very loud humming electrical noise. This happens to All the Soundbars I have owned from various different soundbar makers.Please please Soundbar creators take not of these very annoying issues.I gave this Majority Bowfell compact 2.1 Soundbar 5 🌟 because this product really does deserve it according to my Personal preference.
