Leopard 1 MBT
The book is written in the famous style of the Haynes car manuals. It covers the history of the development of the German Leopard tank in great detail. The text is highly authoritative, being written by Michael Shackleton, himself an expert on the Leopard tank. If you are a fan of the history of tanks and their development and you only have one book on the Leopard tank, then this should be the one! Buy it!!

Ho hum .....
A very 'by the numbers' and unengaging dry data dump history of the Leopard 1. This not a patch on other Haynes manuals like the ones on its direct contemporaries the Chieftain and the AMX 30. A monotone and frankly quite boring read with few operational anecdotes. No mention whatsoever of the tanks protection despite it having been out of production now for 36 years. Some great photos of course, and if ever one needed reminded of the excellence of German engineering the images of the neatly fitting engine under the open cowling bear witness to this. There's barely a few square inches not filled ! Usually I'm enthusiastic on these Haynes manuals on tanks but was quite disappointed in this one sadly. The best ones tend to have contributions from the Bovington tank museum in my experience. Learned very little of enduring or interesting information from this work

Good Book
Very nice book with much technical details - more information about the history of this tank than in many other book published in Germany. I hope that once there will be published a similar book about the Leopard II.

Alle in- en outs worden beschreven. Aardige update en refreshment als je met deze tank gewerkt hebt.

Complete and interesting
I liked the detailed documenting of the history of the Leo 1 series tanks along with the extensive documenting of the various variants used by the different nations who operated the type.
