CRAFTSMAN 100-ft Tape Measure, Easy-Wind Steel Blade (CMHT34216)

A high visibility red/orange oval plastic case, 5" X 6" X 1 ". Weight is < 12.1 oz. Tape is white color, steel, 100 ft long with a blank ~1 ft leader spool attachment, 3/8 " wide. Increments are 1/8 inch with total feet every 12 inches, there is no metric. A small, swiveling fold out plastic crank. Rewinding a hundred feet takes awhile and attracts nearby feline attention. Made in Thailand. This ought to work well for house and yard work. It was originally bought for the 100' electioneering exclusion zone for my work as an Election Judge.

This is my favor tape measure. Simple well made and very functional. It is my favor measurement tool I use in the field. It allows me to measure without a second set of hands. I cannot recommend it enough especially compared to retracing tape measurement tools. Cheaper and better.

2 days on the job site and works great for what it is! Light weight and Compact, about the size of your hand. It fits super well on a tool bag or belt. Only things I wish were different: I wish the handle that you use to wind it back up was made more sturdy and not out of plastic, I can see this handle braking off pretty easily with frequent use. Also I wish there was some sort of locking mechanism, so you don’t have to hold the actual tape with your hand while getting a measurement and moving around with it.

Metal don’t doesn’t stretch. Very clear to read. Takes impacts greatly. Easy to use and hold onto edges nicely.

This tape measure would not roll back in when I tested it, I assumed the mechanism didn’t work. Couple of days later it was rolled out about half and I was going to put it in the trash but then decided to pull it all the way out to retry the roll back mechanism since I had nothing to lose at that point and to my surprised it worked! So if your roll back mechanism doesn’t work, you might just need to activate it by rolling it all the way out first.

This is a very high quality, easy to read and extremely portable 100ft measurer. It’s surprisingly thin but comes across no issues reeling up even after being dragged on the ground. Great value in this and I can see myself not needing another for a long time!!

Tape broke on the third use, numbers on the tape are in feet and then inches, there are no totals. 1 foot is delineated and then the numbers go 1-11 until you get to 2 feet then 1-11 again. Very unusual and unhelpful. Don't buy this.

Does what it should.

small and compact. fits in tool pouch easily. i used it for measuring eavestrough and it has a hook so you can squeeeze it tight on the edge of the shingle and go across to the otherside and it stays hooked on. it doesnt stretch which makes it nice for doing building lay out and checking diagonals. you dont have to worry about how hard your pulling it.

Metal and does not stretch like the fibreglass tapes. Important when laying out footings. Clear, large markings even though the tape is narrow in width. The reel does not pack the tape tightly, and the hub of the spool seems small; so you have to wind for a bit before it takes up the slack and starts to pull in the tape. I thought it was broken at first but you have to adapt to the small hub and slack.

A great 100’ tape with no issues yet… had for over 1 year on a daily basis with no issues.

There is no stop to hold the tape. If you let go of the handle that winds it up, it will unravel itself inside the tape.
