it's not just you. I purchased a scarf gripper head band a wig cap that is worn under a wig. It works with the scarf as well. It really helps theym stay on much better.

I hand wash them and hang them to dry.

I ordered the 100% cotton hats but they feel like they are synthetic material and are very hot and not breathable like 100% cotton.

It depends which one you actually ordered, some colors/styles are 100% polyester and some are 100% cotton. I wear mine (which are polyester) almost all the time and they are very comfortable and breathable, not hot at all.

"sizes: 22-23" too large, mine: 20-21". straps too long or too short. how smart all of this is? i'm tired searching, will buy both, return one.

I didn't buy the long type. I bought the shorter ones without the ties. Instead it has elastic on the back. I have had them for a few months and are very happy with them.
