Brand New Eyes

Good album it came in the right version

The last album of Paramore's original five member lineup, Brand New Eyes, finds each member matured in all their talents creating a terrific third album that helped break their way into the mainstream without cutting themselves off from their roots. Hayley Williams' vocals are truly on display and only enhanced by the music on each track of the disc, a feat that wasn't entirely present in their first two albums. Nearly half the tracks from the album were released as singles, but only three stand out as worth of the distinction. "The Only Exception" with melancholy lyrics and haunting vocals by Williams accompanied by acoustic guitars not only showed Paramore's versatility exploring a new musical theme while not losing themselves. "Brick by Boring Brick" features Paramore going energetic and dark creating a wonderful display of Williams' vocals and Jeremy Davis' bass. "Ignorance" gives off the feeling of 'classic' Paramore but only more advanced in their music and was the perfect first single off the album. The other two singles off the album unfortunately while solid songs didn't feel worthy to be singles considering better songs had been selected representing the themes the band displayed on the album. Both "Careful" and "Playing God", the former is a fantastic opening track for the album displaying 'classic' Paramore while the latter shows the momentum shift to a more emotional tone. The six tracks that weren't singles display two that I personally thought would have been better selections. "All I Wanted" the ending track of the album starts slow then ramps up as it progresses as Williams' vocals astonish the listener. "Turn It Off" is another slow song but it picks up in the chorus with Williams' vocals being showcased and a nice instrumental ending making the track unique. The other four tracks are all solid to good songs that keep the entire album along from track to track, giving the listener an audio delight. Brand New Eyes was not originally suppose to be the "end of an era" as it turned out to be with the Farro brothers leaving a year after the album's release. However in a way it seems like a fitting conclusion to the band's adolescent phase, so to speak, as the entire band matured from where they begin with All We Know is Falling to create an album that did not miss a beat on any track. Every song is "at worst" solid, but the vast majority are good to brilliant musical creations that grab the listener and keep you hooked for 40 minutes. Highly recommended.

Alright so I'm a 15 year old guy from middle of somewhere Wisconsin and I became a fan of Paramore in early 2008 when my friends introduced me to music videos for the songs Crushcrushcrush & Misery Buisness from their sophmore album "Riot!" which I asked for and recieved at Christmas last year. I love Riot!, but there was some room for improvement in that album. It rocked, but not every song totally hit it off for me. Enter "Brand New Eyes." I was browsing around amazon.com a week or 2 ago and saw that they had this album on pre-order for $9.99 and thought that I would get it. Well, today I got it in the mail and to be totally honest, it pulled a John Wilkes Booth on me. Snuck up on me and blew my brains out (only in this case that's a great thing, not in any way a tragedy) -1-__Careful: First song on the album, maybe my favorite on the cd. Sounds a lot like The Paramore I know from Riot! and their 1st album "All We Know is Falling," only x2. Very fast, catchy, and Haley Williams' range is displayed beautifully in this song. Well, her voice rocks in every song haha, but this song showcased it awesomely. -2-__Ignorance: "Brand New Eyes" single #1, I thought this song would be the best on the cd, I was hooked on listening to the song through watching the music video for it online and loved it. I still love it, a little more of vintage Paramore. Love this song, especially the lyrics to the chorus. -3-__Playing God: This song is the first on the album to really represent their new sound, mellower sound that still rocks. The song has got a great point to it and is very catchy. -4-__Brick by Boring Brick: This song is so much fun to sing along to, it's got an addictive tune to it, the drums really stand out in this song, the lyrics are awesome (as most of the songs are), The bridge goes very well with the song as it stands out from the speed of the song but fits in perfectly with it somehow, and I can garuntee that this will end up as one of your favorites on the cd. -5-__Turn it Off: Haley Williams is amazing. Her vocal ability shines through this song, as does Josh Farro & Taylor York's guitars, Zac Farro's drums, and Jeremy Davis' bass especially. The song flows really well. -6-__The Only Exception: The even softer, sweeter side of Paramore. They pull out the acustic guitars for this one and it sounds. It was by this song that there was the thought in my mind that this album may have already surpassed Riot! on the freakin good music meter. And the rest of the cd proved me right! -7-__Feeling Sorry: The Pace picks up again as Taylor and Josh pick up there Fenders again put in another solid track to the album. The Bass and drums also sound awesome in this song -8-__Looking Up: Another great song with one of my favorite beats on the cd. The whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh's in this song are extremely catchy and the guitars in this song sound awesome. By now I know, this is even better than Riot, something that I wasn't totally expecting when I ordered this cd. I was wrong in thinking this would be a "good" album and I'm I was. This is an amazing album! -9-__Where the Lines Overlap: "No one is as lucky as us! Is as lucky as, us." Another great song lyricly, this song has one of my favorite beats on the whole cd. This song is very smooth and yet another example of Haley Williams vocal skill, and the way the whole band can keep you coming back for more." -10-__Misguided Ghosts: The 2nd acustic song on the cd...wow. This song is magical...one of my personal favorites. It's so...pretty, soft, almost feels like a daydream. Your lost in it for a while. However, also like a daydream, this song is rather short which is kind of a shame because it's so good. -11-__All I Wanted: The songs closing track, starts out slow but picks up speed as it goes along. Kinda like your dads oldsmobile, only once it picks up it seems more like a Mustang. Haley's screams in the song are amazing, and are a great way to cap off an amazing cd. Bascily, each and every one of the songs on the cd are outstanding! I couldn't recommend this cd more, I love it to death! I've been listening to it all day, I can't get enough of it! It's totally worth your $10! The only downside is you'll go through some Paremore withdrawal when it's not in your cd player, your car, on your iPod, or whatever. Believe me, "Brand New Eyes" IS. THAT. GOOD. BUY IT.

My husband got me this for my birthday and I’m so glad to have it in my collection. This was one of the first few CDs I had as a kid, and it’s still just as good today as then!

On Brand New Eyes, Paramore returns as a more bitter and road-wary group. Their lyrics are full of apologies, anger, and warnings against getting caught up in your dreams. They question their relationships, their faith, and themselves. Some of the biggest hits off of this album ("Ignorance," "Playing God") are some of the angriest, while others ("The Only Exception") are all about putting past failures aside and learning to love. This one goes in all kinds of directions. It chronicles the lives of a group of people in a band about to fall apart, as we learned later. It's a very naked, emotional album. It's also a group of people growing as artists and experimenting with sounds and writing their most versatile album ever. The aforementioned "Ignorance" is a blistering rock song. At the same time, out of nowhere, comes the quiet and somber "Misguided Ghosts." Then there's the soulful and (at first) subdued "All I Wanted." Brand New Eyes is a success however you look at it. It shows the band growing and evolving, while simultaneously falling apart. Nothing makes for better music than that.

Okay vielleicht bin ich etwas voreingenommen, denn Paramore ist seit einigen Jahren meine absolute Lieblingsband. Aber kaum ein Lied auf diesem Album wird nicht seit Release in jede Playlist mit dem Titel "Lieblingslieder - aktuell" aufgenommen. Wer es etwas poppiger mag sollte aber zu After Laughter greifen und wer es etwas rockiger mag vielleicht lieber zu RIOT!

De plaat zelf was zeer goed en niet beschadigd maar het pakketje werd wel op de oprit gegooid in de gietende regen.

Pas de soucis sur l'article, bien emballé, conforme à sa description. Mais que le livreur amazon abandonne le colis devant ma porte qui donne sur la rue sans même sonner (alors que l'on est là) et que c'est un colis pour remplacer le premier qui a "disparu" je trouve cela un peu cavalier.

Ho preso quello usato ed era in perfette condizioni, il cd non produceva alcuni rumori strani e non ha segni di usura. Band di certo che mi è sempre piaciuta e l'ho acquistato come mio primo cd della band sperando di fare la collezione.

誰もが口を揃えてこのバンドは“成長した”というのも頷けました。 エモーショナルで美しくバラードや力強いロック等々、曲ごとに色を変えるように歌は展開させていきます。まるで物語を読んでいるかのような不思議な感覚に包まれます。 歌詞も凛としていて力強く、彼の精神から通して語られるメッセージが双方好ましいように火を灯すのではないでしょうか。 3作目にしてこのクオリティの高さは逆に恐いかもしれない。素晴らしいアルバムです。
