This was my first experience dyeing anything. A friend who does lots of dyeing recommended Jacquard iDye. She buys it from a local yarn shop. The results were excellent. The color was a gorgeous shade of purple; much prettier than what I was dyeing. I had a favorite top that I'd gotten something on that had faded out the color in certain spots. That's all I had intended to dye. But I also dyed a pair of casual linen pants that were in a mauve color I hardly ever wear, so I decided to dye it too. Both items came out beautifully. The color was much nicer than the top and pants were before. As for the "stain" in the top (the bleached out splatters). Those were faded, but not entirely gone. We'll see when I wash the items if any of the dye washes out. But as for the initial results, the results were amazing. However, if I ever dye anything again, I wouldn't use the washing machine. I have a top-loading washer. Dye water got splattered all over the inside of the washing machine. It got into little crevasses that I didn't expect to have it go. Next time, I would use the "cauldron" method and dye it on top of the stove. But who knows. Perhaps that would be a mess, too. As it was, I had to use Dawn spray cleaner and carefully wipe down the underside of the lid, the lip around the tub of the washer, and the inside of the agitator. After wiping every place I could see, I ran the washer with nothing in it twice. Then I washed a load of black clothing.

It worked great on my old, stained silk shirt. I've had this shirt for over 16 years. It was cream colored and had a few stains on it that dry cleaning wouldn't get out. I decided I'd try dying it because what was the worst that could happen? I hand rinsed the shirt first (the label says "dry clean only") in cold water with a little distilled white vinegar. This way any chemicals that might remain from dry cleaning would be removed. I used the "stove top" method as described inside the box, though I'll admit I didn't simmer it like the box said, I just heated the water until the packet dissolved, added the white vinegar as recommended and stirred it for 30 minutes. I then spent quite a while rinsing it in cold water until the water ran pretty clear (I got impatient and stopped when it looked like I got most of the excess dye out). I then blotted the shirt in an old towel (which did get a smidgen of stain on it) and then ironed it on medium heat while it was still slightly damp. The shirt was still slightly damp when I took the picture, so the color looks a little uneven. But once it had dried completely, it looked great!! The stitching didn't take up the dye as well, but I don't mind about that. I really like the look of the shirt!

IDye Poly is an amazing day for synthetic fabrics. I was hesitant to try it because of some of the bad reviews but reading is essential when dealing with chemicals at any kind and after trying the product, I can tell some people did not read the directions. I wanted to dye white fishnet yellow. I allowed the fishnet to soak in water so the color doesn’t come out streaky while I put a pot with enough water for the item to freely move around on the stove come to a boil. Toss in the color pack which is made of gelatin so it dissolves in the water then open up the color intensifier and pour that into to the water. The longer you leave your fabric in the boil, the more saturated the color becomes. If you’re using something that already has color, you are color mixing so look at a color wheel to see what color you’re going to get. Rinse well, wash with detergent, rinse again. The color came out better than I thought. I don’t ever see myself using Rit dye again after using this product.

I have never been able to perfectly dye a garment. And this dye works pretty good. I defintely prefer it to Rit. This one is for natural fabric. I bought one packet to dye a white cotton shirt to ecru color. At first I didn't thoroughly follow the directions. And so it didn't turn out great. So I bought another packet, decided to be more disciplined and thoroughly follow the directions and it worked out much much better. Some comments: - It's most likely better to dye in hot water in a pot on a stove as directed. And not in the washing machine. - Make sure to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS inside the packet. For example: if cotton, add one cup of non-iodized salt, no less. By doing so, the dye pigments "gripped" to the shirt like magnets. - It's very EASY to use. - It's not messy. - There's no funky odor at all. - It's better to leave the garment to dye for at least an hour I think. - Stir and turn the garment often. Don't just leave it to sit in the dye. Have to work it. The result: - My shirt is made of rather thin cotton fabric. It absorbed the dye well. It's evenly dyed for the most part. But not everywhere and this I has do do with some rest of stain. And so the back of the shirt is pretty evenly dyed. The front has areas with old stains invisble to the naked eyes. But those stains altered those areas and so there's a bit of uneveness there. - Dyed, my shirt looks casual, bohemian style.... It is what I was going for so I am happy with the result. I'll buy again.

Works perfectly on 100% Acrylic felt. Materials I used during dyeng process; One 8 quart clean old stainless steel pot with a lid, Laytex gloves, long wooden stirring stick. Then a clean pail after wards to rince out items and later Woolite for washing.. Works best if you (1) first bring water to a boil in a large pot you'll never used for cooking. (2) Next add emulsifier into the boiling water (3) Then add in material into the boiling water. . NOTE: This product has a very strong odor while it's cooking,so I'd recommend you'd leave all windows open. (4) Place color cube in packet first into In a separate plastic container. Just add in cool water. Let it sit a few minutes in this plastic container.. I let it mix blend by itself n the water letting the coloring float up to the surface of the water.. (5) Then I carefully poured ONLY the coloring that blended well with the water into the boiling water but NOT the heavy residue that's sitting on the bottom of the container. (6) Afterwards I discarded the heavy residue on the bottom along with the plastic container. Why? Found that by eliminating the thick residue the finished felt did not powder nor did any of the coloring rub off on any surface after it dried! Within 40 minutes the color reached it's peak bright/darkness in the fabric. Did not need the heavy residue! (7) After 40 minutes I took the pot outside and drained out the water carefully into the grass and wearing gloves I carefully removed the felt squares into a clean plastic clean pail to keep rinsing off the excess dye. . (8) Kept rinsing each fabric piece till there was no remaining dye left in the water. (9) Repeated rinsing each fabric square in the sink till I was certain there's no further dye run off. (10) Next I washed each square with more water and Woolite and rinsed everything out thoroughly again, and again. NO COLORING WAS LOST on the fabric! (11) Squeezed the water out of the fabric then proceeded to iron each piece with a very hot iron underneath/inside a wet pure linen towel till everything was pressed flat and wrinkle free. End product looked like they were purchased from a store! Clean new and odor free when dried! Wonderful, wonderful, product, HIGHLY recommend!

Don’t bother with this color. I should have paid attention to the other reviews. This ruined my clothes. I dyed it over white clothes for the full 30 minutes. Amazon covered the directions and there were none on the inside of the pouch, but I followed the same process I used for the sage color and the ecru just did not turn out well. Don’t waste your time.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I wasn't very impressed with this dye. I have used the IDye Poly before and had great results. This natural fiber dye did okay but most of the color came out of one of the garments the first time I washed it for whatever reason. I have used it in another color mixed with the IDye Poly of the same color since and it worked well for my project. Maybe this turquoise just isn't as good. I have used other turquoise dyes in the past that weren't the best so maybe it's something about the color. It was pretty on the one piece it stayed on.

I used this with a bunch of scrap fabric I plan to use for a patchwork project. All the pieces started as white or off-white, and I got a nice gradient of colors. The key factor seems to be fiber content; the all-cottons dyed a nice deep color and the ones with some poly content were lighter (because this dye is intended for natural fibers). I even got a nice heathered or chambray type effect on one of the mixed fiber pieces, which I really like. The dye is easy to use; make sure to read the lengthier directions on their website, as the ones printed inside the package are abbreviated. I especially like the dissolvable packet; you just throw it in instead of messing with stainy loose powder. Great stuff, way better than Rit, and I've already used the black and plan to order more purple.

These are the best dyes. Warm water doesnt damage fabric. Still have the issue of natural fabric using synthetic yarns and these yarns not taking on the dye. Would love this to be solved.

follow instructions and all will be perfect. done in a kitchen sink and (stainless steel) great results. impressed.

Very easy to use, little mess and even coverage of dye on my fabric. Would definitely use again.
