I had read some of the reviews where buyers had suggested that the hose can become tangled while being retracted but I still went ahead with the purchase, as it is my belief that some issues are created through misuse. However, in practice I have found that great care needs to be taken when retracting the hose as there is no guide within the mechanism to prevent the hose piling up at one end thus jamming the hose against the casing. This reel was more expensive by far than the retractable garden hose, made by a well known company, that I recently bought. This reel has a guide mechanism which slides from side to side while the hose is being retracted to ensure that the hose is evenly distributed along the drum. Why couldn't the manufacturer of the Goodyear hose do something similar??

I sent this back as it doesn't wind itself up properly when you let it reel itself in. Proper ones (as well as hosepipes) have a mechanism which neatly winds up the pipe, they have a receiver mechanism inside the opening, which moves right-left and left-right as the hose withdraws/extends. Mine was missing that.

First let me mention that the description says 1/4 inch BSP, but the hose terminations are actually 3/8. Also, both ends of the hose are male threads, yet the supplied male Euro connector is male too. So only enough connectors to connect one end. The build quality is OK. It functions OK, but I do feel I paid for the Goodyear sticker and could have got the same features much cheaper. A little bit disappointed to be honest.

Works great, easy to install and the quality was top notch. I replaced an old one I had for 20 years. The retractor works really well.

No issues with this, I have it installed almost in the back of my garage and I can pull it so I can reach the end of the driveway with no issues. When retracting it may bind if you let it go too fast but if you do it slowly you won't have any issues. If it does bind just pull it a little and then pull it to wind it back and it works well. Since I live in a cold climate only time will tell if the hose will survive for a very long time. **Cross-Fingers**
