This thing is an absolute unit. Calling it a “cocktail muddler” almost undersells how substantial it is. The first time I picked it up I honestly thought it looked more like a medieval weapon than a bar tool. That said, the size and weight are exactly why it works so well. It’s made from solid maple with a smooth sanded finish and no heavy coating or varnish, which I actually prefer for a food-contact tool. It feels sturdy and well made compared to cheaper wooden muddlers I’ve used in the past that always felt flimsy or rough. I’ve also used stainless/plastic muddlers before, but those tended to trap water around the seams and eventually got gross. This one feels much more durable and simpler. The flat muddling surface is another thing I appreciate. I’ve owned textured muddlers before and they always seemed to trap bits of mint, citrus, or fruit pulp in the grooves. This one is easier to clean while still crushing ingredients effectively. I’ve muddled everything from herbs and citrus to raspberries, and surprisingly it didn’t stain afterward. Size-wise, it works great in cocktail shakers and mixing pitchers, but it may be too large for some narrower glassware. For home bartending I think the heft is actually a positive because it takes very little effort to crush ingredients. If you were a professional bartender making drinks for hours straight, the weight might become a little tiring, but for normal home use it feels solid rather than cumbersome. The included Lewis bag is also a nice bonus for cocktail nerds who like properly crushed ice. It seems well made, although I’ll admit crushing ice this way is more fun than practical for everyday use. Oddly enough, I’ve also used this for pulverizing freeze-dried foods in larger batches, which is definitely a niche use case, but it works incredibly well for that too. The size and weight make it much more versatile than the average small muddler. Overall, this feels like one of those simple tools that’s built well enough to last basically forever.

Don't have the room for an electric ice crusher or you simply would rather add a little drama to your beverage prep? The muddler mallet is perfect! It fits the hand nicely and each end has its purpose. I haven't used it or the ice bag yet as I am getting my in-home coffee bar/spirits bar set up. I'll be back when the bar is set up and running. I already know these two items will be getting a workout! Who needs yet another electric appliance when this will get the job done easily, it's pleasing to the eye, and you can put it in a drawer when you're done!!

We are cocktail snobs that take jiggers, shakers, and other assorted bar tools with us on vacation. Roughing it while camping or at a five star resort….We are making our own drinks, and we have the high standards of professional drinkers but untrained rank amateur bartenders. I’ve only had it for a month, but I’ve spent some quality time with the Big-Shot Muddler at home, camping, and in hotel rooms. It has gotten the job done. It busts ice like a champ! I go through a few bottles of Crown Royal Peach every week this time of year, and copious amounts of crushed ice is a must to dilute the sweetness of that whiskey to my liking. As far as a mallet, I could not ask for anything more. I have crushed a lot of ice, and the Big-Shot still looks pristine. Likewise, the Lewis bag seems durable, and the loop for drying is a nice feature. It is an okay size, but….I’m not 100% sure here (I drink a lot), I think it may have shrank sometime during the last month? Either way it still holds enough ice for several cocktails. As a muddler, I think the Big-Shot is just okay. I don’t have much to compare it with, but I think I would prefer a muddler with teeth. I seem to have to work harder than necessary when muddling mint for my beloved juleps. The larger size of the Big-Shot, combined with necessary exertion to extract that mint goodness has resulted in some near catastrophes. Only a little magic liquid has been spilled at this point but hold the glass tight under any and all conditions. Maybe I’m just not using the correct tool for that particular job? As a travel companion, all in one, I highly recommend this kit. I might get a smaller muddler with teeth for home use and specific tasks, but the Big-Shot will be going on vacation with us for a long time.

This muddler is so perfect, large enough to get out all the essence from anything you decide to crush under its head 🤪 is that to suggestive? It’s going to get weirder as we go. This thick easy to hold long large wood is just what I wanted to bring out the best in my cocktails 🤦‍♀️ yeah it’s that good.

Great Lewis bag set for those like me that only need to make crushed ice for two or three cocktails at a time. The dual size, dual purpose muddler makes the set cost less than the ones with a maple mallet. If you get bagged ice that’s frozen together the muddler is perfect for breaking up the frozen ice inside the bag without breaking the plastic bag. Having a dual size wooden muddler is also great for muddling in either my stainless shaker, my expensive Movado mixing glass or delicate rocks and Collins cocktail glasses with breaking them. Using a metal muddler I would be worryed about accidentally breaking my glass items.

A must have for any home bar!

Having used it a few times, seems like good choice. It's sturdy and Serves the purpose well.

This has just the mallet and no ice bag and cover as described. Feeling cheated with this buy. Would advise not to go for this.
