Creole Gumbo Dinner Mix

Tony's Creole Gumbo Dinner Mix is the absolute best gumbo dinner mix!! I've tried them all and none of them compare to Tony's!! It is so flavorful! It doesn't have as much sodium as the others! I crave this Gumbo once a week it's my favorite dinner we make! It's really convenient and easy to cook! We cook home cooked meals every single night it gets old quick when life is so busy but this mix makes it an easy quick dinner option!!

I love Tony C's stuff. First recommended to me at an RV park store in Lafayette, LA by a Cajun family...and they were right. I'll experiment. This last batch i chopped up some sausage and a bag of de-shelled shrimp. I usually let it cool then put it in the fridge to let the flavors gel. Yum!

I tried this brand due to the positive reviews and it turned out to be surprisingly good. Added okra, chicken, shrimp and andouille and it turned out as well as my homemade recipe with much less effort.

I'm a huge fan of Tony Chachere's products. I’ve been using the green can seasoning since way back, and it's a staple in my kitchen. For fun, I decided to try this gumbo mix alongside two competitors to see which one would come closest to the authentic taste I grew up with as part of a Cajun family in Louisiana. The flavors in this gumbo are solid—well-balanced with just the right amount of heat. It’s not overly salty or spicy, and when paired with the right proteins, it comes together nicely. That said, it feels more like a stew than a traditional gumbo to me. For all three mixes I tested, I added smoked andouille, pecan wood-smoked boudin, and grilled chicken. The preparation process is straightforward: add the proteins, water, and mix, bring to a boil, then let it simmer. One thing I found consistent across all the mixes is that the flavor improves significantly after sitting in the fridge overnight. The next-day taste is always better. My biggest gripe with this mix is the inclusion of rice. While it's not a dealbreaker, it does lead to a mushier texture. Personally, I prefer to cook the rice separately and add it right before serving so that it retains its texture and better complements the gumbo. It's a small detail, but I think it makes a big difference in the overall experience.

The spices are well measured to produce a delicious yet spicy broth. I add shrimp, chicken and sausage. This enhances the flavor and produces a healthier meal. The package contains rice, so there is no need to add any more.
