Can i use a pole instead of mounting & what kind of pole do i use? also will instructions come with how to use a pole?

Yes, you can use a pole. Instructions are very limited and won’t help with that and, unfortunately, I do not have the info either. That said, it’ll work fine with an alternate hanging mechanism, but think about getting the 8 and the piece that allows for better spinning.

can the hammock stand be used rather than the ceiling?

Dear Customer, Hammock stand can be used, you can tie our swing to stand, our swing comes with hardware kit,O-sling,daisy chain and hooks. Hope this will be helpful

can you take the fabric part down/off when not in use so it doesn’t take up as much space?

Dear Customer Of course you can. The swing is hooked to a rope so you can take it off when you're not using it.

Is this material stretchy? Some reviews say it is, but others say it is not.

Dear, Aokitec swing material has certain stretchy. It has high elastic on lying direction, less elastic on sitting direction. Hope this will be helpful.
