This critter gobbled down 4.5 TB of my work since 1984 no problem
This is yet another small miracle in my working life, to have this tool for making an orderly and permanent record of over 40 years of my projects on a no muss/no fuss basis. It took only two 16-hour days to sort out, if you can believe that. This little critter just burped and asked for more. Thank you, Western Digital.

Reliable Storage with Plenty of Space
It’s compact and easy to carry around, which makes it convenient for storing and moving files. The 5TB capacity is a big plus. It’s been reliable so far and works as expected when plugging into different devices. Transfer speeds are decent for a portable hard drive, and it’s simple to use right out of the box.

More Storage
It’s actually 5TB! Good quality and much more compact compare to my old hard drives, also much cheaper than other brands

Suitable storage.
Will suit my needs. Needed expanded backup storage. A little slower than expected but works fine for my needs.

Great Hardware but limited Software
I have purchased many drives from internal hard drives as a replacement hard drive or a slave drive for repairing and upgrading and building computers as well as external hard drives and Western Digital has always been super user friendly and i have never had a complaint from a client. This product is no exception to the ease of use Ive come to expect and the quality of the product and its functionality. You can literally plug it in and start copying files without installing anything and it is very compact yet has a very large 5tb storage capacity I had 2 disappointments with the software. Firstly I feel an external drive is the best way to protect privacy as opposed to online storage and clouds that can be hacked. However their auto back up utility stores online and is only permitted to be used for a maximum of 5 years. I think software should last as long as the product actually lasts but i wasn't planning on using the auto back up anyway because it would defeat the purpose of trying to protect my privacy. To me storing online exposes private files to who knows how many employees that may or may not be trust worthy and companies that may or may not secretly sell a persons information. Secondly the password protection can only be used on devices that the user / owner of the external hard drive has administrative privileges on so this would not be the best device to take to the library or an acquaintance to print a copy of a drivers license or social security card from being that there would be no admin privileges on those computers so every file on your external hard drive would be exposed. In those cases a small flash drive with only that one file on it would be best if that was the only place you could go to print it. For this product it would be best to only use on your own devices like desktop, laptop, etc. where you have admin privileges that nobody else has the authority to revoke. I am glad I have this so i don't lose or jeopardize important personal records and business documents, my art creations and my music library for my radio station and i don't need internet access to view, print, copy the contents, I can unplug this device and clean the hard drive before going online and Im fine with doing my own periodic back ups.

Perfect Storage Solution!
I got the WD 5TB My Passport Portable External Hard Drive in Black (WDBPKJ0050BBK-WESN), and I’m absolutely thrilled with it! This little powerhouse has transformed how I manage my files—whether it’s backing up my laptop, storing my massive photo and video collection, or keeping work documents secure. It’s compact, reliable, and packed with features that make it a standout choice. Honestly, it’s one of the best tech purchases I’ve made in a while! Setup was a total breeze—just plug it into my USB port, and it was ready to go. The 5TB capacity is insane—I’ve got tons of 4K videos, music, and projects loaded up, and there’s still plenty of room to spare. The transfer speeds with USB 3.0 are impressively quick, so moving large files doesn’t feel like a chore. I also love the included backup software with ransomware protection—it’s super intuitive and gives me peace of mind knowing my data is safe. The password protection with 256-bit AES encryption is the cherry on top; I feel like my sensitive files are locked up tight. The design is sleek and portable—fits right in my bag without adding bulk. Plus, it’s bus-powered, so no extra cords or adapters to fuss with. Western Digital’s reputation for reliability shines through here—I’ve had zero issues so far, and it runs quietly and cool even during long transfers. For anyone needing a dependable, high-capacity drive, this is it! Pros: • Huge 5TB capacity—perfect for photos, videos, and backups • Fast USB 3.0 transfer speeds save time • Backup software with ransomware defense is easy to use and effective • Password protection with strong encryption keeps files secure • Compact, lightweight, and stylish design—great for travel Cons: • The included USB cable is a bit short—wish it was a foot longer for more flexibility • Software setup might take a few extra minutes if you’re not tech-savvy (but worth it!) All in all, the WD 5TB My Passport is a fantastic external drive that delivers on every front—capacity, security, and portability. It’s earned its five stars in my book, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their storage game!
