Battery does not charge through either the USB or a power outlet with Nikon's own charger. If this has happened to you what fixed the problem?

Yes, this is the second time it has happened to me. I will try with universal charger when I get home or have to buy another battery within 6 months. .

Nikon sucks...mine had a lens issue just after 30 days...had to send for repair and it took nearly 2 months to get it back. Then that lens died 9 months later..conveniently out of warrenty...and it would cost $100 to fix it! I bought a Canon...

does it have a view finder

The S9100 does not have a designated viewfinder. You simply frame the picture in the LCD viewer on the back of the camera. There are only minor framing options on the camera and I have found after several years of using this camera that just setting it on AUTO is all that is needed for very good pictures. But you can play around with some of the settings as well.
