will new thicker 12" thick mattress fit in bag?

No. We had to use 2 bags to cover a standard thickness. But if you use 2 bags it should work.

Does the queen size bag fit a queen box spring?

Yes. The product description says so and it fit my plush queen mattress, so it should would for a box spring.
