In this practical, lighthearted and action-oriented book, James Roper and Chandler Bolt explain how you can be productive with your time without sacrificing your social life and the freedom you cherish. By drawing examples from their time as students, entrepreneurs AND years of coaching student-entrepreneurs, they show the reader how be more productive while also creating more time freedom. (instead, think of these productivity tips as a whole new set of tools for your productivity tool bag.) The Productive Person is concisely written with your valuable free time in mind, and it teaches time management for entrepreneurs, college students, or anyone who struggles with work-life balance. Don't let your time keep slipping away...take it back, make it productive, and enjoy your new life. Review: โYour mind is for having ideas, not holding them.โ โ David Allen - James and Chandler have created a very simply structured guide to manifesting productivity regardless of your personality type. It is very appealing to visual learners with each action plan mapped out in front of you and the pro tips set apart like little check points. The fun titles for many of these hacks make it easier to identify where you might excel or could improve upon when figuring out what works for you individually. They give titles to things that most people are already familiar with - like night cranks! This book is so straight forward and laid out black and white that it makes this guide impossible not to understand. Reading through it was so conversational which made it such a page turner. It felt like I was talking with a friend because of how down to earth and real they are. They have a productive buddy bromance which easily encourages people to go after what they want to accomplish regardless of restrictions or constraints like geography. The best part about this guide is that it's hands on learning and that you can take components of some of the schedules and combine them to fit your needs. It isn't rigid or restrictive whatsoever! I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to take back a little more control over their time and life! Review: Short but good - I made a resolution this year to read any and all sorts of "life hack" style books. This one kept popping up as a suggestion. I figure if the book was a 1 star, I'm only out 4 bucks. In my life, I am a college student (At almost 30) and I'm also lucky enough to work a PT job that allows me to work from home and make decent money. But, for whatever reason I suck a planning out my day. This book has a companion guide that you can download that allows you to plan out what is the most important to the least. Not only for a week but 5 years from now. This allows you to focus on what will complete your goals and put away things that don't add much value. The only confusing thing for me, they have a custom schedule called "Mind and Body Refresh." This is what I am starting out with. when they talk about "Action Blocks" I am unsure if this includes "Prework" or not. I assuming it does so I do my pre work then I move on to stuff I have to get done for the week. All in all a very good beginners guide to help you plan your day, week, month or life.

Nails It On The Head!
The Productive Person is a great read. The fact that the book epitomizes their whole message of being efficient and getting things done by being a quick read, but packed with a ton of helpful, easily digestible information is awesome. The simple day-to-day tasks they point out to get the big goals accomplished is something I feel everyone knows, but it takes reading it in a book to have it really sink in. The productivity hacks are useful and easily applicable, all someone has to do is make the decision to apply them. I wish this was out when I was in college, it would have drastically changed my perception of how valuable my time was and how efficient and productive I could be with it. However, I can take the knowledge now and apply it going forward. I can't wait to see what happens when I start using some of the hacks in my daily routine. Good job James and Chandler!

Itโs alright :)
The book was well-intentioned, and you can tell that the authors really care about productivity. Personally, I would have preferred it if they had chosen one productivity plan, and championed that throughout the book as opposed to 37 different ideas did they throw at you. In that sense you can tell that it was written by two people and it felt like a lot at times. But I do think there are some good ideas in here that are worth practicing so the book definitely has some value. I donโt think itโs revolutionary but itโs a relatively short read, so why not?

Challenging myself to take my productivity to the next level!!!
I was very impressed with this book!! This was a very short and concise guide that is simple to take into action. This guide is very practical but effective. I have learned many of these tricks during my previous jobs. It can be difficult managing all of the different personal tasks with work, while very busy with all the unexpected hurdles that never fail to happen. One of the most important takeaways for me is to take care of the most important items at the beginning of the day before getting sucked into reality. I find myself getting caught up on "firefighting mode" all too often. I need to challenge myself more to deal with these items first because they will push me forward in life. This short guide can help anyone push to accelerate their success! James and Chandler did a great job keeping this guide simple and concise. Most people that read this probably don't realize the impact this guide can have on them. However, the people that feel more energetic and understand the value from it, will succeed much greater and faster at life and in business!

Not very useful to me.
This book appears to have been written by a few college-age students, and it contains their advice. I may have appreciated this book a lot more when I was in college, but it had very little advice that was useful to me now. It contains some good general ideas for productivity, and they have some worksheets and actual forms that you can use. Since I bought the kindle version, those don't really help me too much. I would recommend that someone interested in this book look at a preview -- it might be useful and a good book for you. It just wasn't a good "fit" for me.

If you are self employed then this is a great help
I downloaded this book on a free promo along with the action guide and I find it's a perfect companion to other early morning productivity routines that I recently started. It's ideal for the self-employed person who can change around their schedule to suit their work. I'm not sure how a person with a 9-5 job could manage this- but for someone like me it's very helpful. The hacks in it are a little vague so it's not quite as specific as I would like, but for a basic book it offers some cool schedules and suggestions. So far the schedules are working well!

Limited (if any) value
This book, while short, got me thinking. Specifically, I wondered if there has ever been a "how-to"/business book directed at such a narrow audience. For this bare pamphlet (65 pages or so) appears to be geared exclusively for people with very little to do, no deadlines to speak of, and no one to answer to. My first clue was when the author sought to establish his productivity bona fides by noting that he took 21 hours and maintained a straight A average one term in college, while SIMULTANEOUSLY pledging a business fraternity AND acting as referee for two intramural sports. impressive I suppose if you are not yet old enough to legally drink, but that schedule would hardly cause a busy professional to quail. I should also note that the authors employ a very liberal definition of "entrepreneur" throughout the book. Entrepreneurs I know often have little free time, as they are consumed by investor presentations, operational meetings, dealing with shareholders, etc. These men and women apparently have not read this book, which is confident that no work responsibilities are so great that they cannot be knocked out in two three-hour blocks of time. Or, if you are truly focused, one four hour block, followed by a two hour lunch and an afternoon of "hanging out at the pool!" Hanging out with whom? The stay-at-home moms to whom this book is partially directed? Have these guys ever met a stay at home mom with kids under the age of, say, 17? My wife stayed at home during my daughter's elementary school years and her weekday pool time was maybe 10 hours a year--and we live in Florida. With a pool. In fact, the only "entrepreneur" I can think of who might benefit form these tips is the author himself, while he was engaged in his high-school business of getting his buddies to cut lawns with him one summer (a fact he cites with noticeable pride). I won't give away any of their "tips" on how to be productive, other than to say they are very short on details and long on aspiration. These guys do have one skill, though, even though it has nothing to do with time management or entrepreneurship. Somehow they convinced me to waste money on this worthless piece of blathering. Even worse, I bought it on Kindle, so I can't employ the book as a door stop or for some other worthwhile purpose.

Helpful tips and schedules
The Action Plans are very useful and they can work for a variety of people. For instance, I found the Mind & Body Refresh very attractive, but it turns out that I'm more likely to get things accomplished in the evening, so the Night Crank routine was perfect for me.

The Real Deal
As a cynic at heart I have had very little time for time management type books. This is the best. Simple, straight-forward, practical and easily applicable. The value in the book is unsurpassed by the more expensive time management franchises including Getting Things Done. It is almost like they just wanted you to succeed and not sell you more stuff?

I designed a schedule that worked for me. This book made it easy for me to use my time well.
This book was great for me. It has a strategy that is flexible when you do not work in corporate jobs. I have to manage my own time. Motivation is the key for me to get things done and I need a simple structure that I can stick to. What I liked about this book was it validated my desire to have a balanced approach. Where I can value my personal interest and not just be totally focused on working. The book did offer more than other books I've read that just give you information. When I took the time to do the work and found the depth in why I wanted to be more productive and figure out how to apply the strategies to my personal circumstances. If like me you don't want to wade through 350 pages of dry over complicated information you will like this book too. In a very short time I was able to apply these new ideas and changed the way I planned my day. It was easy to follow and helped me make adjustments. I got results quickly with less resistance. Good value for me
