This is 100% an honest review
Below will have some positives and negatives about this product and services. The reason that I have this product 2 stars and ultimately kept it. As the title says, this is a 100% honest review. I ordered this intake system for my bike because of its look, functionality and decent price (under $100.00). Had to wait for delivery (5 to 7 days via usps), not the end of the world but stating the facts. Got a box in the mail that had on the side "made in China", nothing wrong with that again, just facts. No damage to the box from shipping and handling, open the box and all parts were very nicely packaged in plastic and bubble wrap to protect all these Magnesium chrome plated parts. So far so good.. After checking to make sure I received all the parts for the intake system, I checked to see if everything was going to line up for the install and noticed a huge issue. The holes that were drilled into the elbow that connects the elbow to the mounting bracket did not line up correctly at all. If you lined up one hole then the other 2 would be significantly off from complete alignment, then I go to try and put one of the screws through the hole and noticed that the placement of the hole was too close to the elbow and the screw wouldn't sit flush with the part. At this point I have determined this system to not be able to be installed. The mounting bracket bolt holes lined up with my carburetor and the filter fit into the elbow but not able to fully install the product onto my bike. And lastly at that time, I also noticed that the elbow had a visible gouge right before the bend that was chromed over in the manufacturing process. No good, I felt like I was ripped off and the product (for the price) was to good to be true. I immediately set up a replacement through Amazon giving the benefit of the doubt to the seller because these kind of things happen from time to time. After setting up the replacement, I contacted the seller and they responded within 12 hours of my message stating that they had never had that kind of complaint before. Note in my initial message to them, I fully explained the issues with the product, provided pictures and determined this to be a defective product from the manufacturer. They then asked me for information about my bike (year, make and model) which had nothing to do with the defective product sent to me. After stating that my bike has nothing to do with the defective product from the manufacturer and hadn't even made it to installation on my bike, they then sent me an image displaying how to install the product onto my bike. I had to explain to the seller that I knew how to install the part onto my bike and re-exlpain to them that the part was manufactured incorrectly. I mentioned to them that I had marked with electrical tape all the defective parts to the elbow and when they received the defective product back to try and assemble it to see what I am referring to. In hopes of them checking their stock for other defective products before they get sent out, I asked them to do so before sending my replacement to insure this situation not to happen again. They responded for me to look over the replacement and note any issues and at that point they would speak with the manufacturer. At this point, this is all creating anxiety to me and now I'm back to square one waiting 5 to 7 days for products. New box arrives and here we go again, same "made in China" markings on the box, same packaging details as above. Checking all the parts for quality, elbow looks like good with no gouges in the finish, mounting bracket lines up to the carburetor same as last one. Filter fits onto the elbow as before. Bolt holes on elbow appear to be placed better as you can put the screws all the way in and flush, moment of through will it line up with the mounting bracket? NOPE, this time, 2 out of the 3 holes line up fine but that same 3rd hole (at the elbow bend) was offset to where you couldn't thread the bolt to the bracket. Taking all of this into consideration, my choices were to return this entire product for a full refund and burn the seller here in the review for the garbage products sent to me with a 1 start rating, keep the product and only install 2 of the 3 mounting bolts and hope nothing ever falls off still giving a honest bad review. Or, take the product to a machinist and have them fix the un-aligned hole. I chose the third method because I didn't want to wait for products anymore and have anxiety over my purchase anymore. After my machinist fixed the placement of the hole, the product was able to be installed fully on my bike and due to the alteration of the hole, you can see a small gap (like a crest moon) on that bolt. Admittedly you would have to be told that the gap is there in order to see it, but it's there. I'll know it (forever) and once you see it, you can't unsee it. The fix did not mess with the structural integrity of the system, the bolt offset still compresses the elbow onto the mounting bracket like the other 2 bolts. The pictures are of the intake on my bike and I realize that I cannot return this product because I had to alter it which is fine. That said, installed, the intake system looks good and fits the scheme of my chopper. If none of the above of my experience was had, the only thing bad I would have to say about this system would be; you have 2 options on how to mount the intake to the mounting bracket, vertically (12 O'clock) or horizontally (3 O'clock). When I had the air intake mounted in the 12 O'clock position, the crown of the filter bulges out far enough that it pushes my leg out and it is harder to put my foot on the brake lever. Having it mounted at the 3 O'clock position, allows for better foot placement and more normal use of the brake lever. I originally was looking forward to having the intake mounted in the 12 O'clock position but oh well, not the end of the world. Looks cool the way that it is. So overall i feel that a customer SHOULD NOT have to go through this much trouble in order to install a product that is intended for the application it was purchased for. The reason for 2 stars is because I was able to "make it work" but then again, a customer should not have to "make it work", a product that is intended for the application it was purchased for. I sent all this information to the seller in hopes that they check the quality of the products they receive from the manufacturer they use. Anyone reading this honest review can use this information to help you determine if you want to use this seller for your parts. It is at your own risk (as all purchases are online). This was my experience, thank you..
