Are you kidding?
When I first started woodworking, I bought a twenty dollar Forstnet set and have used them for years. Now many of them are burned and unusable. I figured I would throw down some bucks for a quality set. Unfortunate for me I chose the CMT brand. I had a 1 1/8" size in my cheap set that was never used and did a side by side comparison of the same size of the new set I just bought. (Chucked into a drill press, drilling into red oak) The chinese bit drilled a hole with only a small ridge at the top of the hole, faster, with less effort and less heat buildup. The CMT bit produced a significant ridge at the top of the hole, more effort to plunge into the wood, and the bit was hotter after drilling. I then stroked the cutting edge of each bit with a diamond sharpening stone and tried again. Each bit performed better, but my chinese tool still stood higher in quality. I returned the CMT's. Got me some Freud brand, their new Precision Shear. Good stuff.

The bits themselves seem fine. I have no complaints there.What bothered me is that they came in a tall, wooden, rectangular box instead of the orange case in the picture. I read another review and someone else had been expecting a wooden box and received the orange case. This makes me question both CMT's consistency and communication.For most people, this probably wouldn't have been a problem. But for organization, I needed them to fit into a specific space. The wooden box doesn't fit so I just have to leave them out on the bench top.

Without case
The case was not as pictured. My favorite things about cmt are their precision and quality. The case as pictured has a foam insert and looks to provide quality protection. It would seem as though it should have come as pictured.

Awesome!
These are great forstner bits. They seem to hold a sharp edge for long period of time (depending on what species your drilling) & can be sharpened nicely.
