Very strong and secure lock with kryptonite promise. The cinch design especially makes it even more versatile for my ebike as it adds to the effective length. As seen in the picture, I use it actively in my garage to lock up my ebike to a kryptonite evolution ground anchor. The only drawback of a strong chain lock is the difficulty to carry it along. So, I only carry it if I am locking my bike away for more time. I wish there was some intelligent mounting or carrying system. Foldylock just beats so many other locks in that particular aspect, which is why I always have that additionally on my ebike.

This is the best lock available for keeping your e-bike secure in a variety of settings. The cinch ring allows you to effectively double the length of the chain for situations where you might need it, like locking to a very large support post or wanting to lock multiple bikes together. It is extremely heavy, but that's what it takes to slow down thieves with portable metal grinders.

Good lock, good chain. I like the noose feature. It does get to be a bit of a hassle to thread the ring, but the only way around it would be to buy two locks which would obviously cost more and I'm not sure would be less hassle. I lived in a small apartment in a moderate crime area, outdoor bike storage was my only option. About a month after acquiring this lock and "noose" chain, someone attempted to defeat it to steal two bikes. I think they attempted to hacksaw through the chain which left narry a scratch. They did attempt the same on the lock shackle and succeeded in scratching off the black paint. Some (hammer?) blows to the lock only broke off the plastic barrel cover. Pick attempt resulted in breaking the tip of the screwdriver (which they left behind) off inside the barrel and ultimately failed. The system succeeded in securing my bike against this attack. Thumbs up, for that. HOWEVER, either due to the broken screwdriver tip jamming in the barrel mechanism, or damage to the mechanism itself, I was unable to fully insert the key and unlock it. I fiddled for quite some time with no success and finally called Kryptonite to explain the problem. The customer service rep was extremely helpful and promptly told me to cut off the lock and ship it back and they'd send me a new one. I used a wide (1/4", I think) cutting disc, but recommend the 1/8" ones if you need to do this as the wide one had to remove so much material it took a long time. Maybe eight to ten minutes per cut, and I did have to cut it twice to get the bike free. I sent the lock to Kryptonite and after just a couple weeks I received a new Evolution 4 Series Disc Lock, with carry holster and reminder cable. So, in short: great security for the price and 5-STAR customer service from Kryptonite, but I'm disappointed this type of lock cylinder can be damaged so easily. Given that this disc lock isn't really large enough to secure directly to the bike frame (with the exception of chain/seat stays), in the future I'll probably get a high security padlock to secure the chain to itself. There are better security chains, but they cost much, much more and will still fall to a grinder. After much research, here's my assessment: this noose chain from Kryptonite probably cost me about $50 bucks as part of the system and is very close to being impenetrable with hand tools. A strong person with quality four foot bolt cutters and something to pry against could cut it, but it wouldn't be easy. Stronger chains that are 100% impenetrable with hand tools are much heavier and cost four to six times the amount, but they could still be cut quite easily with power tools. So, I could pay half the value of my bike for a chain for slightly higher security, but in the event the chain gets cut and the bike stolen, insurance would cover the loss of the bike. I'm not sure insurance would cover the loss of the nearly-as-expensive-chain. Frankly, if a thief knew what was what, that expensive chain could actually be a target (i.e. cut the lock and steal the bike AND the chain). I decided that this Kryptonite chain is a "reasonable" degree of security that doesn't go overboard for my current needs.

Great chain, heavy but secure

This thing is super sturdy. Slightly overkill in most situations probably. But I chained my bike to a metal fence near a baseball stadium during the world series this year and came back to it unscathed. I'd feel safe leaving my bike anywhere with this. My only gripe coincides with a benefit, and it's that this chain is long. I sash it across my body vs wrapping it around my waist. it makes riding with any bag kinda weird, but it's not that big of a deal. Also the length is a benefit as I can thread the chain through both wheels and through the back of the frame, which secures every aspect of the bike (except the saddle.) Really good stuff! I may get a mini U lock when I anticipate quicker rides though, as those are more convenient to carry around.

When I purchased this item I had some concerns because it was also advertised as a bicycle lock so I was worried it might not be sturdy enough to adequately secure my motorcycle. I shouldn't have been worried. The chain is massive and the disc lock is plenty strong. I used this lock to secure my HD Fatboy. I looped the noose around the swingarm and then connected the loose end to the disc lock and secured the disc lock to the rear brake rotor. It was just long enough to go around the unique Fatboy factory exhaust. The protective cloth cover over the chain protected everything from any scratching. This set-up is not long enough to lock or secure the bike to a fixed object in a motel parking lot like the base of a light pole. I was traveling with one more motorcycle and he passed his cable lock through my chain and we were able to lock our bikes together. The only possible concern about the NY Noose and disc lock would be the weight, but, if you want heavy duty, then you'll have to tolerate it. About halfway though my eight day trip I readjusted my packing and moved the lock to the bottom of a different bag and after that, there were no issues. If you're looking for a high quality, heavy duty set up this is a good bargain for the money. You don't have to look very hard to find this lock new for under $75.

I’ve included photos comparing the 1210 (the shorter, non-cinch) and the 1213 (longer, cinch style) since I bought one of each for 2 different e-bikes. The long length and cinch ability allow for a lot of options for these larger bikes. I don’t live a major crime area and expect these to extreme overkill for my purposes (at least I hope so). I plan on using these in conjunction with the folding lock that came with the bike to secure the front wheel and a second barrier. They are both REALLY heavy and would not recommend for someone on a non-powered bike/vehicle, especially the 1213 cinch chain. Unless someone has a battery powered angle grinder they’re absolutely not getting through any of it. I won’t be parking in remote back alleyways. The intimidation factor is probably enough deterrent for most cases. AirPod Pro (series 2) for reference; no banana for scale.

Great bit of kit, hasn't let me down thus far

This lock feels rock solid, and provides a lot of peace of mind with an expensive bike. I live in a pretty safe place and so haven’t had anyone test this out, but it feels pretty bulletproof and I’d imagine that anyone looking to steal a bike would look elsewhere. The sliding loop is great - I can often lock up 3 bikes with the one chain. It is heavy as hell, though. But wear it around your shoulder or waist and you’ll feel like a real badass.

Bastano pochi secondi per metterlo/toglierlo e, pertanto, nelle soste brevi è sicuramente da preferire. Catena: Meno pratica del bloccadisco, più pesante/ingombrante da trasportare, richiede più tempo per metterla/toglierla. Offre maggiore protezione rispetto al bloccadisco se e SOLO SE trovate un valido punto di ancoraggio su strada (pali della luce, pali dell'elettricità, pali ben saldi al terreno e con diametro rilevante). Detto ciò, comprando questo prodotto della kryptonite comprerete un 2in1. Perché? Il lucchetto della catena è in realtà un buon bloccadisco (diametro della parte meno spessa 14 mm) e quindi potrete decidere di portare con voi anche il solo bloccadisco e lasciare la catena a casa . Altri pregi di questo prodotto sono: 1. Un lato della catena è in realtà un anello all'interno del quale potrete infilare l'altra estremità della catena. Non è semplice da spiegare a parole, guardate qualche video della kryptonite per capire meglio cosa intendo. Questo semplice stratagemma renderà più semplice ancorare la vostro moto ad un palo. 2. Vengono fornite 3 chiavi. Una molto carina con luce led, due più piccole con il seriale del prodotto. 3. Registrandovi online potrete avere una assicurazione in caso di furto della moto (premio massimo di circa 1250 euro). La registrazione è gratuita per un anno, costa 20 euro per 5 anni. Onestamente non so quanto sia vera, ma considerando quanto avevo risparmiato acquistando questo prodotto su amazon anziché in negozio, ho deciso di investire anche questi ulteriori 20 euro. Altre considerazioni: La kryptonite produce altri modelli di catena+bloccadisco. Perché ho scelto proprio questo? I fattori da prendere in considerazioni per me sono 3: diametro maglie catena, lunghezza catena, peso. 1. Diametro maglie catena . 12 mm è il minimo valore oltre il quale non scenderei, catene con spessore minore diventano dei giocattoli. Diametri maggiori ben vengano, ma il peso della catena aumenta... 2. Lunghezza. Oltre a questo modello 1213 (catena lunga 130 cm, peso circa 5kg) avevo preso il considerazione il 1210 (lunghezza 100cm, peso 4kg) e il 1217 (lunghezza 170 cm, peso 6kg). Ho fatto una prova su strada e mi sono reso conto che con il 1210 si faceva troppa fatica a legare la moto ad un palo (a volte non si riusciva nemmeno) e per questo l'ho scartato. Con il 1213 riuscivo a legare la moto senza eccessiva difficoltà. Il 1217 sarebbe stato ancora meglio, ma il peso cresceva troppo per i miei gusti. 3. Praticità. Qui entra in gioco essenzialmente il peso. Il modello 1213 pesa circa 5kg, e per me è questo il limite. Avrei volentieri scelto modelli aventi un diametro maggiore delle maglie della catena, ma il problema diventava il peso. Questi i modelli da me presi in considerazione e scartati: - Modello 1410 (diametro 14mm, lunghezza 100cm, peso 5kg): E' il modello per il quale sono stato più indeciso, ma la catena mi sembrava eccessivamente corta. 100 cm possono sembrare tanti ma fate una prova su strada e vi renderete conto della verità. Per un bici forse vanno bene, per una moto sono pochi a mio modo di vedere. - Modello 1415 (diametro 14mm, lunghezza 150cm, peso 7kg): Troppo pesante per me, 7 kg sono tanti da trasportare. - Modello 1590 (diametro 15mm, lunghezza 90cm, peso 5kg): Fantastico diametro di catena, ma catena troppo corta - Modello 1515 (diametro 15mm, lunghezza 150cm ,peso 7kg). Troppo pesante Se il peso non è per voi un problema, mi orienterei sui modelli 1415 e 1515, che offrono una protezione ancora maggiore. Altrimenti andate per questo 1213 e non ve ne pentirete. Non dimenticate che con tutti questi prodotti comprate sempre un 2in1. E ricordate sempre che se non avete un valido punto di ancoraggio, tra catena e bloccadisco non cambia nulla. Lamps!
