Original Mesh Filter Was Too Thick...Service and Replacement was extremely Helpful, Fair and Efficient.
*** I originally left only 1 star so people who are not satisfied with the fit of the mesh filter will know that they will get great service in rectifying the problem. Advertised as a perfect fit for the 'Aeropress. It was too thick and didn't come close to fitting. All the advice on how to make it fit involved altering the original structure of the Aeropress itself. I contacted Aeropress at: [email protected] and they informed me "Some (about 5%) have a really tight locking system and won't fit our filter." However they said that they redesigned a filter to make it thinner to fit the tighter locking systems and offered to send me two filters to replace my one filter. I informed them that I was now living overseas and the said they would incur the extra shipping charge to send the filter. I received my replacement filter, PLUS a free extra one to compensate for my troubles. It fits perfectly and gives me the desired results of a more intensely flavored coffee. A few things impressed me with this company: 1) They were willing to redesign and manufacture a new filter, although it would apply to only 5% of their units. I would think that they would increase their quality control and assure that all their Aeropresses would conform to a single standard. Thus, once the new filter was sent out to the few customers who needed them, they would be scrapped. A cost that Aeropress was willing to incur to satisfy their customers. 2)From their prompt and fair service, it appears that Aeropress is concerned about their customers' satisfaction after they have purchased their product. 3) Finally, something I have always been satisfied with; the resulting coffee using the Aeropress with the paper filters is the best homemade coffee I have ever experienced drinking. Only in a few coffee shops have I had better coffee and at $3 (2 Euros) a cup, they weren't that much better. Especially considering that they were probably using a machine costing upwards of $6,000. So, all I need to do while traveling is find good coffee beans after 3-5 days after being roasted, pure water and a good vessel to boil the water. I like drinking my coffee black and believe that the oils and the slight sediment the screen will let through makes my coffee taste that much satisfying to my taste.

Good fit for AeroPress
It's a good alternative to paper filters. However, it wasn't a good match for the grind of coffee I have. The water went through so quick that I had to put the plunger in immediately after pouring in the heated water. I have a technique after plunging by pulling the plunger back causes the grounds to levitate so they can be plunged in to the trash separate of the filter. This one time, the filter made it's way into the trash unnoticed with the help of a distraction. I had decided to find another filter that was finer. I did find "The Mesh" in the trash unscathed. Good product. The screen is delicate compared to fine filters, but with careful handling should last a long time. I give it 5 stars, because it works, it fits, it's easy to clean. It came with fast shipping. The company will send you an email to find out how you like it. They care about you and the use of their product.

Works well but be careful—it's delicate
For several years I used a different kind of metal filter, one of the stiff flat ones with a billion tiny holes in it. It did a good job but I always had to fight with it to get the coffee through those tiny holes. It usually took a lot of effort. Now it takes WAY less effort to push the coffee through the mesh. That's a relief. One downside is that the mesh is delicate. It's already wrinkling a bit even though I've been careful with the filter. Make sure not to bend it too much. I'm guessing that eventually I'll do something wrong and tear the mesh and will have to replace it. But that isn't a deal-killer considering how well it works with the Aeropress. I noticed that the coffee is a bit stronger and slightly more harsh through this mesh filter. It's probably letting more of the oils through than the older filter. Because of this I've been able to reduce the "steeping" time by a full minute to get the same strength I'm used to. You should probably clean the filter right after using it. I never had to do that with the older metal filter, but I think the mesh could get clogged a bit unless you clean it right away.

A Tale of Tragedy and Redemption
My boyfriend had been using disposable filters that were (for some reason) very hard for him to find to fit into his AeroPress. He'd have to buy them in bulk when he found them because he wasn't sure if he'd find them again. Then he ran out and couldn't find them, and for something like a year was using regular filters that he would stack about five deep and cut into a circle to cram into the AeroPress filter hole. What a sad, sad, tragic figure he was. Then I discovered this! I bought it for him in secret and stuck it in his AeroPress. He went to make coffee, prepared to cut his sad little circles out of regular coffee filters. And then! "What's thiiiiiis!" he cried out, mad with excitement. "The solution to all your problems," I said. "That's what it is." He's loved it ever since. I know some reviewers have had issues with theirs not fitting, but I must've gotten one of the good ones because it fit in there fine. It washes easily and it's quite durable -- we've had it for months and it's still in perfect shape. I don't drink coffee myself, but I'm told by him that the mesh is quite fine and very few (if any) coffee grounds get through. In fact the mesh is so fine that he's actually used it for other things he's experimented with, like making almond milk or some kind of other crazy thing, I don't exactly know what he gets up to in there. Anyway, great filter. ^-^

If you like mesh filters, this is the choice for AeroPress
This fits my AeroPress perfectly and removes the need for paper filters. It is a bit messier since you can't just eject the grounds with the paper into the trash in one shot, but I like the flavor of a mesh filter making it worth the mess. The "upside down" method does not work with my press since the press body swells with the hot temperature while the cap is cold and then won't screw on. I use 12oz of water so I can pour it in fast enough that the press will fill up enough that I can pop the plunger in and mostly stop the water flowing through the filter letting it "bloom" as long as I want. If you want to use less water for a stronger brew, that method won't be satisfactory to you since quite a bit of water runs through at first pour. If you heat up the cap as well, it will probably screw on fine, but then you'd have to handle a hot cap. It is on the delicate side, but it's held up for me so far after a month of use.

An absolute gem
Have been using this filter for 4 years now - daily, multiple times a day. I tend to rinse it off after each use and maybe give it a more “deep clean” every month or so. It has traveled all over the world with me and is still going stronger than ever. It has to be up there with the best value items I have ever bought! A highly overlooked piece of kit that simply works and works like an absolute champ!

Upside down brewing.
It works well so far. I've had it for a month. The only problem is you have to use it upside down, which is weird. You have to flip it over every time.

Great filter that's environemental friendly!
I love my Aeropress. I wake up every morning and one of the things I look forward to the most is my morning coffee brewing process. From measuring the beans and using a hand grinder to pouring the water over the grinds, it's just a great process to get me started in the morning. The Aeropress paper filters are good but I didn't enjoy throwing away a piece of paper every time I had to brew a cup of coffee. Once the filters that came with my Aeropress ran out, I did some research and bought this Altura mesh premium filter that is infinitely reusable. I didn't have to be concerned about throwing a piece of paper out every time anymore. The Altura filter functions exactly the same as the paper filters. If you've used an Aeropress, substituting the Altura reusable mesh filter is a no-brainer. I actually find the taste of the coffee to be better because it isn't being filtered through paper (which I have no knowledge of the production process of) and the coffee oils are not trapped in the paper. The Altura mesh filter allows the coffee oils to pass through, resulting in a more flavourful cup of coffee (to me). The thing I don't like about french press coffee systems is that the micro-grounds get through the filter and you end up with some grit in your cup and the grinds in the press more resemble a thick sludge when you're done. With the Altura mesh filter, you don't get any of the micro-ground escaping into your cup and what you're left with after pressing the coffee through the Aeropress is a condense puck of coffee grounds that is easily disposable and requires minimal cleaning. Overall, if you enjoy a great-tasting cup of coffee that minimizes the environmental impact (used coffee grounds can be used in your garden or you can use it as a body scrub during your showers), you should definitely consider purchasing this Altura mesh premium filter for your Aeropress.

Perfekt
