Outstanding Product
I've been putting off getting one of these for years, because the paper filters were doing a fine job. Then just last week, as I was about to make a cup of wonderful coffee with my Aeropress, I noticed it was about time to order some new paper filters. So I came to Amazon to do so and, just as I was about to to add the paper filters to my cart, I remember a conversation I was having a few years ago with two of my closest friends, Brian and Kevin, about the Able metal disk filter. Seriously, we really had an actual conversation about making coffee...in between political debates. See what you have to look forward to when you reach your forties, kids? They both swore by it and sung the praises of retaining more of the coffee oils and how that improved the flavor and body of the coffee. So, I browsed the various disk filters. I was going to order a very similar metal disk filter from another company, but then I noticed the ABLE one and remembered THIS was the specific product my brothers told me about. Yeah, it was a little more expensive than the other disk and a little more expensive (like a dollar or so) than the paper filters, but I am a firm believer in Proverbs 32:12 (KJV), which says "Thou gettest what thou payest for."So I paid more for the real deal and I am very pleased. Like everyone is saying, it retains more of the coffee oils, so you get a a purer cup. The paper filters absorb a lot of the oils, which still makes a great cup of coffee, but this just improves on an already great product. Some people have reported more sediment, but I actually had less sediment in my coffee than with the paper filters. It's probably the grind, because it didn't require as much effort to plunge as usual, either. I use the inverted method, but that didn't seem to make any difference in difficulty or whatever. But as everyone is saying, when you drop the disk into the black filter holder, whatever method you use, if you don't see the etched writing arched around the edge of the filter, you're going to have some difficulty. Just remember the prophetic lyrics spoken in the 1980s by the sagacious band Cameo--"Word(s) up."In summary, you get a great cup of coffee using the ABLE metal disk filter and and you get to feel a little more snooty about your role in reducing landfill waste by reusing this filter every time you do something wonderful for yourself and prevent yourself from re-enacting the church fight scene in the first "Kingsman" movie at work.Everybody wins when you purchase and use this filter. Even the Narwhals. And that's really what this is about, isn't it?

Nice
This is a neat and convenient accessory for the Aeropress. Compared to the stock paper filters, it allows for more oil to go through, more acidity, and the coffee comes out with a slightly thicker body. I wouldn't say it's better or worse, it's just different. In most occasions, I like it better, but depending on coffee type, age since roast and grind type, I find myself going back to the paper filters occasionally. Having this in your brewing arsenal certainly increases your palette of coffee flavors. Also, it's very easy to clean and seems very durable.Keep in mind, the holes in the Able disk are bigger than then holes on a paper filter. You can easily see through an able disk, but you can't see through a paper filter. This means, you may require some adjustments in your grind type and brewing method in order to extract a good cup of coffee.

Great quality product
I love the item - really well made and engineered. I just like it because it does make the aero press fractionally harder to clean after making a cup of coffee than with the paper filters. If you're out camping I would recommend it since you don't generate the paper waste of the disposable filters. The performance of the DISK versus the paper filters is virtually identical. I was worried the brew would drip through quicker, but the holes are very small and no grounds make it into the cup. The fit in the Aero Press is perfect, and it's very easy to clean off after use. I've been using it for a couple of months and there is zero discoloration, rust or staining on the disk. Do take note to make sure the words on the DISK are face up when you use it. The holes do have an orientation to them, and that is the intended direction for them to face.

Survived an Accidental Compost Trip
We bought this disc 3 years ago in 2017 as a novelty and to see if we liked it better than the paper filters. There are plenty of reviews on the quality in that regard. For us it made a good cup, but it was a little fussy to clean when the fines get stuck and the convenience of popping the paper filters into the compost basket was just too easy and won out. That's not why I'm giving it 5 stars. It's a 5 star product because at some point the disc accidentally was sent into the compost. It had to have sat in the worst conditions possible for a steel object for a minimum of 9 months. The "weatherproof" screws I used to build our bin were all rusted and the cedar wood was decomposed at the bottom. When I recently rebuilt our bin, I discovered the disc and it did not have one speck of rust and - although clogged with compost - was as shiny as the day it arrived.Whatever you think of the disc I can assure you it will last a lifetime. So kudos to the Able team for using a quality material.

Far superior cup of coffee
I've been using the Aeropress for quite some time. I really like the coffee and convenience. However, I just received the stainless Able disc 2 weeks ago and WOW! The coffee from my press has gone from very good to world class. The flavor difference is night and day. Richer, fuller, more complete.

The last filter you'll buy
I've been using this beauty for a year now on the daily, and it's terrific. The metal lets way more oils through, so you get a fuller body cup. I love it.Event though some of the holes get jammed, I very rarely have to actually clean it out beyond a rinse since it still works fine. It hasn't gotten bent yet, so it's quite durable.

Does exactly what is expected and brings great convenience
I definitely noticed the change in my brew after buying this, the flavour just had more depth and tasted fuller. This also seemed to be noticed by people unaware of the change. Either that or I have just been making better cups.Anyway, convenience. Well it clearly trumps paper in this department as it's reusable and can be stored within the Aeropress at all times ready to go. Made travelling less of a hassle. I'm the type of person who would forget to pack paper filters anyway.I noticed that another reviewer claimed that this adds another cleaning step and they said that it was finicky. I disagree. I clean my aeropress before I enjoy my cup, it takes about 60 seconds to do, including washing this filter. After plunging I remove the filter and set it on the counter after running it under the tap for a literal second to clear most of the debris. Then I dump the grounds into another container (for fertilizer) by plunging the extra inch that is attainable after removing the filter area. I then rinse and wipe down the Aeropress quickly and finish by filling it with warm water, reattaching the filter and plunging the water straight out. A quick shake and it's ready to go back home. Reassembling the aeropress to plunge the water always removes the grounds that get stuck in the filter holes for me. Whole process takes no more than a minute.

Believe it or not, this makes a superior cup!
I read some online reviews that stated the coffee that this filter made was better than with paper filters. I was dubious, but they are right! Somehow, the coffee tastes smoother. It is a little expensive, but it has lasted quite a while, and well worth the extra money.

No complaints
Use this product daily at work, where I sometimes have to travel around.I hate the idea of having to constantly buy filters so this was a no brainer for me.Filters the coffee well, maybe a little bit more of a faf to clean than the disposal filters but it's something I can live with.

Pricey one stop solution to filter paper replacement
Works as expected. The filter papers tend to absorb much of the coffee oils. The steel disc allows this into the brew. Hence, the brew is a wee bit more flavoursome. But for what is essentially a stainless steel disc, the price charged is excessive.
