Not sure why it's coming up as a toy review, but it's a great product.
I bought this for our small outdoor fish pond. I don't know the exact size or volume, but it's about 3' x 4'. Our previous pump/filter had given out partly because it was too powerful for a tiny pond. This seems to be just right. It makes a nice little fountain & filters the water really well. (We used the fountain nozzle from our other pump/filter because we wanted a more traditional tiered fountain, but this kit includes the basic bubble and waterbell type water pattern.) We had clear water again after just one day. It has been a little over a month since we installed, and no problems. It's easy to clean, and at this price is such a great value. UPDATE: It has now been a year and this pump is still working great. We kept it running all winter without the fountain part attached and it provided enough movement that our little pond didn't freeze solid and it kept our comets happy and healthy during this unbelievable winter! Now that it's warm out, it continues to keep the water crystal clear, doesn't clog over-easily and is easy to clean. I have not had the problem that others spoke of with the tab of the cover breaking off, but I also don't just try and rip it off. Very satisfied with this product! SECOND UPDATE: It has now been almost 2 years (and a very rough winter in the northeast!) and this pump is still working beautifully! My fish survived the winter as this kept the water moving even in the deep freezes we had. Great product!

Great filter for a small outdoor pond!
UPDATE! I bought this pump/filter 5 years ago and it just quit working today. FIVE YEARS of constant use I got out of it, and it was great that whole five years. So great in fact, that I'm ordering another of the exact same one today. Very easy to assemble and install. Mine arrived without any kind of instructions, however it was so simple that instructions really werent needed. I've had to wash out the filter pads several times already (which means it's doing exactly what it's meant to do!) My 50 gallon outdoor pond was awful with algae and bottom sludge, which I've also been adding products to treat the problem. But this filter works hard, does it's job, and the filter pads simply have to be cleaned out once they are heavily used. Now I can actually see my fish again! I've only had this a little while, so I can't tell you about durability yet. But it's already been well worth the small price I paid for it. Like others mentioned, I did have to weight it down with a rock, not a big deal at all. I would like to find out if I could purchase other tips to use with it, just to change up the water pattern sometimes.

Good pump and filter
This filter cleaned up my pond in just a few hours! The filter pads are easy to clean and it's helpful that the unit comes with a handle to make it easy to lift out of the pond. The pump has been running non-stop all summer with no issues. My only complaint is the fountain part of the unit - although the "mushroom" fountain worked great at first, after a few hours, the water came out in an uneven, distorted shape. I tried raising and lowering the insert piece, but it always seemed to clog back up after a few hours. I bought another set of "standard" fountain heads on Amazon with several converter pieces, but they still didn't fit on the unit properly. This could probably be fixed with some epoxy, but I'd be afraid that would make it difficult to clean. Oh - and watch out for tadpoles getting stuck in the filter - several times I'd open it up to clean it and find struggling tadpoles inside.

This worked great for our little pond!
This is a great little pond pump / filter / water feature for our small pond (approx 200 gallons) inset on our front porch. It cleans the water through removable/washable/replaceable filters and creates a pretty round water spray (you can control the size of the diameter). I bought this same item many years ago (at least 6, maybe more) and it stayed on year round. It went through winters of freezing weather where the top of the pond was frozen solid but the fountain was a crystal ice palace that kept the water moving and kept our die hard gold fish alive. Here is a picture of the frreeze in 2009 and of my dog drinking out of the frozen fountain in 2010! Eventually the pump just wore out. Even my husband, who is a marine mechanic, said it was toast. So I went back to the store I bought it from and they no longer carried it. Thank goodness for Amazon who hooked me up with Pondmaster and even though I was bummed that I couldn't just replace the pump, I now have a new unit that is working great! Thank you Amazon and Pondmaster!

A feeble pump that can't do the job.
The pump on this product is so feeble that I would not recommend it to anyone. It performed so badly that I just had to face the fact that I spent $75 on a bad choice and I just threw it out.

Actually does the job!
Wasn't positive what I was getting. This is a hard little worker. Does a great job. Huge fan. Would definitely recommend.

Good starter unit for small pond
I bought this pump last summer for my 350 gallon pond. I have it stocked with goldfish, and the most fish I've ever had is 13. As a general rule, a pump should turn the pond volume over every 1-2 hours. Its stated flow rate of 190 gph falls in that range. The positives: This pump is a great value, especially as a "starter" pump for a novice pondkeeper. The all-in-one design makes it so easy to install and maintain. I can clean this filter in the same amount of time as I can clean my dryer's lint trap. The negatives: At 190 gph this pump at least theoretically should have been able to maintain a 350 gallon pond with less than 30 inches of fish. It has been woefully inadequate. I have had to add a 350 gph pump with box filter AND a 1200 gph pump with a canister filter and fountain. Also, the filter media they provided was far too course to filter out fine particles, so I added a layer of quilt batting. In short, if you have a 100-200 gallon pond with maybe 2 or 3 fish this unit is perfect. Any more than that and it will only be useful as auxiliary filtration.

Small pond filter and fountain
Perfect for my small pond about 10 gallons of water. Needed something flat and this works perfectly.

Absolutely love this!
I read some comments before buying, that it didn't stay at the bottom of the pond without weight. So I put weight on it, and it's turned out to be an excellent unit for my small pond. I've had it less than a month and have cleaned the filters out twice already. I was so excited when, after about 3 days, I could actually see my fish, and the bottom of the pond! I took off the fountain spigot and hooked up a piece of hose, ran the house out and around the pond to create a small waterfall down some rocks and back into the pond. For me, it is ideal -- small and flat, cleans the crud out of the pond and the pump is strong enough to run my little waterfall. I am very, very happy with this purchase.

Good little pond filter
Works well and arrived quickly. Easy to assemble. A bit on the small side, so frequent cleaning required. But, easy to clean.
