what is this spacer/connector that is also a requirement?

its the threaded male adapter that goes inside the wall and connects the hot and cold water to the shower valve. its essential. the hot and cold connectors are separated by a bar that sets the water connections at the right spots to mate with the connections on the shower valve.

My water pressure is constant, so I can`t accurately answer your question. I can say I am totally satisfied with this product , as is my wife. The unit is probably the best bang for my buck in our master bathroom renovation. Looks great and works great.

what is the thermostatic 16181181 for? where does this go? all i know is you have 2 pipes coming out of the wall & the shower is connected to this.

(thermostatic 16181181) Are the rough in pipes that you mount the shower system to. So it comes with the threaded nipples and a spacer so that they are the correct distance apart when plumber does rough. You would then pull out the threaded nipples and replace with any pipe and cap for sheet rock and tile work. Once that is complete you pull out temp pipes thread in rough pipes (thermostatic 16181181) and proceed to install shower system.
