Perfect for home education. Work set at appropriate age

About 5 chapters, totalling about 70-90 pages, each starting with "Stuff you know already" and ending in a review of material covered. The format is questions only, with no explanation. This is fine if you are using it to find areas of misunderstanding but not so good if your own maths is weak or you don't feel competent to explain. Personally, I use this to find weaknesses but then need to help these out with other materials - my child is incapable of learning a topic based on the small number of questions given here. Because of the space given for filling in answers, there isn't actually room for all that many questions. (Old style STP textbooks have a lot more questions, and always at least one explanation, even if they are quite dry - they are much better for actually filling in gaps in knowledge/understanding) The answers are at the back - which is irritating but they are available if needed. As another reviewer said, it would be better if they could be removed, so that they are easier to use / not available for copying. Although this book has its flaws, I have just bought a second after the first was damaged: for finding the gaps in your child's understanding, the thin coverage of all areas is really useful.
